Quick and Almost-Professional Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
I LOVE this recipe! I am very picky with frosting and usually leave it on the plate....but not this one. The flavor and consistancy is perfect. It's so smooth and creamy. The recipe does yeild a small amount if you're trying to ice a cake. With one recipe I was able to spead a generous amount between two 8" round layers and crumb coat it but didn't have enough icing left to properly spread between two 10" layers. I did doudle the recipe and it too turned out perfectly. Thanks for the PERFECT buttercream recipe!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
My family and I loved this stew. I did follow Corinne's advice as I am accustomed coating and browning the beef for stews. I never have a problem with the beef being dry and this was no exception. It almost melts in your mouth but isn't soggy either. I do need to brown it in 2 separate batches. My only issue was that I am not much of a wine drinker so I had no idea what kind to buy. I had heard that you should never cook with a wine that you wouldn't drink. I ended up buying Sutter Home Sweet Red Wine, not expensive but still good especially if you're not wanting to spend a fortune on something you might not use up.

Ganache I

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
Great recipe, thank you for sharing! I had never made ganache before but with this recipe and the great tips from a few reviews I had no problem at all. I used white chocolate and put gel food coloring in it after all the chocolate was melted and it turned out beautifully.

Oven Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
I love this recipe! It's exactly what I was looking for. I have a son who usually hates meatballs but loves these ones. I did use frozen meatballs instead of making my own and threw them in the crockpot and poured a double recipe of the sauce over them, set it on high for 4 hours and they came out perfect. The second time I made them I added 1/4 cup Sutter Home Sweet Red Wine and an extra tablespoon of cornstarch and cooked them the same way as the first time and again they were great! The sauce really is a great base that you can add to or great by itself. Thanks for sharing it with everyone.

Cookies and Peppermint Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
This was my first ice cream cake and this recipe made it so easy. I took the advice of a few reviewers and added butter to the cookies and I made the cookie layer thicker as my family loves that part. I also doudled the fudge layer and used chocolate chip mint ice cream. I made it into a 2 layer cake. One being ice cream and cookie and the other being chocolate cake and ice cream. I also used a whipped cream frosting recipe from this site as it was for a birthday and I wanted to decorate it. It turned out great!

Cucumber Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
Great recipe! I used white onion and a mix of red and yellow tomatoes because that's what I had on hand and it still turned out great.

Lemon String Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
After reading many reviews that said this recipe was too oily I decided to cut the oil down to 2 tablespoons and I had a little more than a pound of beans. I first boiled the beans in salted water and then rinsed them with cold water. I sauted the garlic in oil and poured it over the beans. They were great with the changes.
