Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2003
My husband went to Tulane and he said this recipe was quite authentic! He recommended just giving it a couple extra hours simmering low on the stove. We used sweet italian sausage as not to scare off our daughter with the spiciness of the andouille, but had a bottle of Tabasco on the table to spice things up a bit if we wanted!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2004
Oh my, this is recipe is easy and good! My husband raved about it, and my daughter had three helpings at dinner time. We even sprinkled some crumbled bacon on top of the soup, which was tasty. Thanks for sharing!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2004
Yummy! I would imagine that this recipe would also be good with meat instead of chicken, or without either as a vegetarian meal.

Greek Pasta Salad I

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2004
Yummy! I like that this pasta salad recipe that does not have the usual "italian dressing, carrot and broccoli pieces". I used 3/4 of the amount required for oil and vinegar, so that the vinegar wasn't too overpowering.

Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2004
This recipe is AWESOME! My husband grilled the pork tenderloin (actually there were two smaller ones in the package--one and a half pounds total) for about 20-25 minutes. I couldn't find apple jelly in my grocery store, so we passed on the sauce this time. My husband suggested maybe using plum jelly instead of apple for next time. Can't wait!

I made a half recipe with this and made 8 good sized wraps. These are definitely going to be made again, since they are so easy, delicious and once made ahead provides an INSTANT dinner.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2004
GREAT recipe as is, but I'm sure you can doctor it up to suit your tastes. I teamed it up with the Exquisite Pizza Sauce, which is also on this web site.

Great recipe! I used a pineapple, blueberry, strawberry, melon and kiwi combination. I also served the "dressing" on the side.

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
This recipe is AWESOME! I didn't have any green onions, so I chopped up a half of a small yellow onion and sauteed it before adding it to the soup. I used one percent milk, light sour cream and reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese. Will I make this soup again--you bet!

Beef and Barley Soup III

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2004
We all enjoyed this recipe. I cut the recipe in half to feed the three of us, and I still have leftovers. I first made "Kathy's Roast and Vegetables" (also on this site), and then used some of the leftover meat in this soup. I would agree that adding more beef broth than called for would help--it is pretty chock full of ingredients. I try that next time.

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2004
Outstanding! We had this last Friday night, and it disappeared. I couldn't find a block of American cheese for the recipe, but used an 8 oz. bag 4-cheese blend (finely shredded), which worked out great. This is our new homemade mac and cheese recipe from now on!

What a great recipe! And oops--I forgot to add the sugar, and it was still delicious. I followed other reviews and doubled the amount of ingredients for the sauce. We will be having this for dinner again soon!

Cheese Soup IV

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2004
Great recipe! I followed another suggestion and reduced the amount of water to 7 cups. In addition, I added 6 pieces of bacon, cooked and crumbled, to the soup when I added the sliced Velveeta. I'll be making this soup again!

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2003
Oh, these ARE the best ever!! Blending the cream cheese and shredded cheddar in a food processor seemed to help. I didn't have bacon, but these still tasted terrific. I have a feeling that I too will have to make these again soon and set aside some time to make a 100 or so to freeze and have handy!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
Absolutely the best recipe I have found to make a Thanksgiving turkey. Make sure that the turkey rests on a rack and not on the bottom of the roaster pan, otherwise the turkey meat will fall apart and off the bones when removing the bird from the pan!
