I substituted butter for shortening, ommitted the egg (I was out of eggs!!!!), and used 1 cup of buttermilk to compensate for the liquid loss with the egg. WOW! Best recipe I have ever used for biscuits.... even though I had to tweak it due to what was in the fridge. These were incredible. Proportions of wet/dry here are spot on. Enjoy!
