Make-Ahead Vegetarian Moroccan Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2012
Made this for our veggie/first course for the Morocco night I prepared for my husband. Served with Ksra bread and we both really liked it. This was my first time making Moroccan and this was tasty, easy and differently delicious!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2011
Picky husband and super picky teenaged son say this is a winner. I cooked it on a Sunday and put it in the fridge until Tuesday night. Skimmed all fat off the top, sliced and put in the oven with juices over the top to rewarm. melted butter and mozzerella under the broiler then added horseradish. Yum! My husband talked about it the day after as well.

Fried Butterflied Shrimp

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
If it is on the menu, my husband usually orders shrimp when we go out to eat. I made this cutting the water and corn starch each by half and adding Tony Chachere's creole seasoning to the crumbs and he said "This is delicious, it's one of those things you would remember in a restaurant that would make you want to go back there." He was still talking about these the next day! Used Panko crumbs but ran out so switched to Progresso bread crumbs for subsequent batches. Also followed the advice of letting them dry out a bit between washings so that the breading from the first go round didn't wash off. I will definitely make these again. This was the first time I had fried shrimp and next time will go for bigger ones. These ended up like popcorn shrimp so it was lots more work.

Citrus Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2011
I won a frozen turkey and decided to prepare it in a brine solution the weekend after Thanksgiving. My husband's quote "I really liked the turkey we had at my sisters for Thanksgiving but THIS is even better." It was flavorful and moist and this was starting with a frozen in store brand bird. I imagine if you used it for a wild or heritage bird it would be amazing!

Spanish Rice Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
yummmy! this was sent to me as the "daily dish" just when I was trying to figure out what to do with a pound of ground beef. I used a dutch oven like others have suggested I also made my own chili sauce using another allrecipes.com recipe, axed the extra sugar, used brown rice and because my husband prefers it, mozzarella on top instead of cheddar. He really liked it and in his own words he is the "plainest eater you will ever meet."

Mid-Eastern Chicken Thighs

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
My H is not a big fan of curry but he liked this so well he wanted leftovers for lunch the next day...when I went to get them we both realized he had helped himself to seconds the previous night and there wasn't any left. I followed the recipe and the comments in KLEVEAR 's follow up review...increasing the seasoning and reducing the juices. Served it over long grain white rice. Also had never heard of Garam Masala but found a recipe for it here on allrecipes and it turned out beautifully

German-Style Green Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
Oh my goodness! These were fabulous. The only change I made was to up the bacon and decrease the onions. Served them with Wiener Schnitzel, Spaetzel and Streudel for dessert. it was a great meal, not one you want to be concerned about calories for, but just great!

Wiener Schnitzel

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
Yummy! I have been making my husband a different international meal a month since January. I built tonight's menu around shnitzel which I had many times when I was in Germany. This did not disappoint. He loved it and so did I. I did use pork. Had the butcher slice a pork loin roast finger thick. It was tender and delicious. Spritzed it with lemon as recommended. Rounded out the meal with Spaetzle, German Green Beans and an Apple Streudle. All recipes found here this site.

Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2011
This is a great basic meatloaf recipe that can be adapted according to your tastes. I used a combo of beef and turkey and topped with Store bought BBQ sauce. Also was out of tomato paste so substituted ketchup. Had never cooked with Quinoa before but this was really good! My husband raved about it and though I have never been a fan of meatloaf sandwiches I thoroughly enjoyed the one I made for myself with this recipe. Next time I will follow the recipe exactly for a different but still great flavor.
