Whoa. I'd only had sweet potatoe purée/mash once before, with coconut in it, and the texture was really not good and it was too sweet. I really needed another savory dish to go with all the sweet stuff this Thanksgiving, and this was just perfect. Simple, easy, made it 2 days before as suggested. I don't have a food processer bush just used a sort of electric masher, and then a mixer, and it was fine (a few tony chunks but silky enough!) The butter and salt and milk made it oh so lovely, put it in individual cups and topped with roasted pine nuts. It was gone before the pumpkin pie...

I'm never making any other bread again. I made this using a bread machine. I soaked the oats in the boiling water, salt, honey, and butter (or oil, if you want to substitute). Then I put in the flour and the yeast. I set it to a standard bread setting, and it has come out flawless every time. My husband said tonight "wow, you must have worked out all of the flaws with bread making in the machine." I smiled and said no, I just found the right recipe. Canola oil can be substituted for butter. This is also the perfect recipe for anyone suffering from IBS. Using white flour and oats can really help the stomach digest unsolluable fiber.

This is hands down the best recipe period I have ever made as far as meeting my expectations, and not needing any changes. I've put a twist on it by adding banana chuncks and chocolate chips, strawberries, apricots, you name it, we've made it. I make army sized quantities and freeze them pre-cut, so at snack time I just have to take one out of the freezer and microwave it for 30 seconds. My 4-year-old prefers these to store bought- now THAT is saying something!
