Skillet Ham, Cabbage and Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2005
I enjoyed this recipe with some slight changes. I used chicken broth instead of water as several suggested and kielbasa instead of ham. Also to quicken up the preparation time, I used a can of diced potatoes instead of chopping up the recommended number of spuds. And this way I didn't have to worry about over cooking to get the potatoes tender. Added some pepper for little more flavor. I will be making this again. I've also found after making this a few times, it taste better the next day as leftovers. So now, I make it, allow it to cool then put it in the fridge to eat the next night.

Upside Down Pizza

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2003
I like that it was quick and easy, but I didn't care much for this. Maybe it was the spaghetti sauce I used. Another problem I had with this is that I could only get one layer of meat sauce in a 9X13 pan. I would have had to double the meat sauce to make two layers. It probably would have worked for an 8X8 size pan, but then the cresent rolls would have been too long. On top of all that I had to take some Zantac after eating it.

Proper English Cottage Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2003
What a runny mess! Followed the recipe to the letter. Too much milk in the potatoes. Used a deep dish pie plae and put on foil covered cookie sheet. Very glad I did or would have had a huge mess to clean up in the oven. Carrots didn't get done either. Sorry but won't be making this again.

Lemon Cooler Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2003
My husband really liked this cake but I was expecting it to be a little more tangy. I may play with the ingredients a bit. Maybe leave the pudding mix out of the topping.

English Pound Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2002
This is the best pound cake I’ve ever had. Made it Christmas day and it was a huge hit with the family. The orange extract gives it an added boost. I’ll be making this again in the future.

Krautburger

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2003
This was okay, but needs spicing up in my opinion. Plus working with that doe was like being in a wrestling match. After the first batch, I gave up and dumped the remainder of the filling in 13X9 dish, layered the cheese slices on top of that then rolled out the second loaf of bread to cover the top. Baked for about 20-25 minutes until the bread was done. Much easier. Just bought a bag of cole slaw mix from produce section and used half of it instead of having to chop up a head of cabbage. I’d use sharp cheddar next time, if I make this again, so that I can actually taste the cheese. Mild cheddar seems to loose its taste when cooked into a dish. Also add some garlic and Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture.

Cannoli Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2005
This was so-so. Like one other reviewer, I didn't care for it frozen at all. I think it might be better to use cream cheese and condensed milk. Maybe use the cherries as a topping.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2003
I used the large, country style ribs and my favorite BBQ sauce as many suggested instead of ketchup. The meat was so tender it was falling off the bones. My husband, who's a picky eater, said he'd like to make this again. I think when I do though, I may leave out the chili sauce and just use an extra cup of BBQ sauce. Add a little more than a dash of hot sauce to kick up the flavor for me.

Beef Tips

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2002
This was really good. My picky husband even liked it and he hates it when I try new recipes on him. We both felt this needed a little something more flavor wise and the sause could stand to have been a bit thicker, so I'm going to play around with a little next time I make it, but it's definitely a keeper. I made this in my crock pot following the directions of some of the other reviewers, cut back on the soy sauce (low sodium variety) but kept the Worcestershire sauce at recommended amount since dh loves the stuff.

Southern Sweet Potato Bread with Pecans

I've had this recipe for years and make every fall when the first cool weather hits our area. I love the way it makes the house smell. So does my family and neighbors.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2003
This was very good. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I added some salad shrimp which made it even better. I may play around with the dressing some - maybe add some pureed strawberries and cut back on the sugar.

This was a little too salty for me. Other than that it was okay.

Fried Cabbage II

This is the closest recipe for the cabbage I remember my grandmothers cooking when I was child. I added a bit more water. I'll be making this again.

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2012
This was okay but I really prefer my pumpkin pie sweeter than this. I added a praline topping after tasting the filling before baking. Not sure roasting the sugar pumpkins was worth the effort either. I used the second one I bought to make pumpkin bread.

Zucchini Pie

Not only was this quick and easy, it was yummmmy! I ended up eating 3 helpings. Next time I make it, I'm going to add some garlic. Might try it with some cheddar cheese too. I'm curious to see how well these freeze and reserve later.

Cherry Crisp

I just wasn't overly impressed with this dessert, though it was very quick and easy to through together. Would do in a pinch. Would cut back on the nutmeg.

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
This was a tasty change for new potatoes. I cut the potatoes up in smaller pieces then microwaved them for a bit to reduce the oven cooking time. I also doubled the sauce recipe.

Scrumptious Seafood Linguine

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
This was a very good recipe but I wish the sauce would have thickened up a bit more. Husband said it was a keeper though and he's very picky. I used a pound and half of regular sized shrimp and left out the imitation crab since I don't care much for it. Also seasoned it up a bit more with some Greek Seasoning. Served with a salad and garlic bread...great meal. I'm going to work on getting that sauce a bit thicker though. Maybe more cheese.

This was okay. Quick and easy to prepare. Something I might make again if I'm in a pinch for some type of batter or chicken coating.
