Krautburger

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2003
This was okay, but needs spicing up in my opinion. Plus working with that doe was like being in a wrestling match. After the first batch, I gave up and dumped the remainder of the filling in 13X9 dish, layered the cheese slices on top of that then rolled out the second loaf of bread to cover the top. Baked for about 20-25 minutes until the bread was done. Much easier. Just bought a bag of cole slaw mix from produce section and used half of it instead of having to chop up a head of cabbage. I’d use sharp cheddar next time, if I make this again, so that I can actually taste the cheese. Mild cheddar seems to loose its taste when cooked into a dish. Also add some garlic and Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture.

Proper English Cottage Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2003
What a runny mess! Followed the recipe to the letter. Too much milk in the potatoes. Used a deep dish pie plae and put on foil covered cookie sheet. Very glad I did or would have had a huge mess to clean up in the oven. Carrots didn't get done either. Sorry but won't be making this again.

Award Winning Peaches and Cream Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2003
This seemed more like something I would serve at a brunch than as a dessert. Not overly sweet, but good. Easy to throw together.

Honey Crunch Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2003
Excellent pie, but I did cheat and use a store bought crust instead of making one from scratch. The homemade crust probably would have warranted the extra star. Made this for the boss's birthday and he loved it. He only shared with a few people in the office and took the rest home to serve for dessert that evening since he was having company.

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2003
This was fairly quick to fix and tasty. Husband wasn't real impressed with it though. If I make again, I'll add pecan bits to the topping.

Very good and easy to make. This will be great in the winter time with a bowl of soup.

Lemon Cooler Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2003
My husband really liked this cake but I was expecting it to be a little more tangy. I may play with the ingredients a bit. Maybe leave the pudding mix out of the topping.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2003
This was very good. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I added some salad shrimp which made it even better. I may play around with the dressing some - maybe add some pureed strawberries and cut back on the sugar.

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: May 22, 2003
This was okay. Quick and easy to prepare. Something I might make again if I'm in a pinch for some type of batter or chicken coating.

Awesome Broccoli-Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2003
Very good dish. Served it at Easter dinner and everyone really enjoyed it. Simple to make and very tasty. This is a keeper. Made this for a pot luck dinner at church and there wasn't a bit left.

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
This was a little too salty for me. Other than that it was okay.

Outstanding Chicken Dinner

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2003
I thought this was rather bland. While simmering the chicken in the broth, it needs some seasoning. Sauce needs spicing up a bit as well.

Upside Down Pizza

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2003
I like that it was quick and easy, but I didn't care much for this. Maybe it was the spaghetti sauce I used. Another problem I had with this is that I could only get one layer of meat sauce in a 9X13 pan. I would have had to double the meat sauce to make two layers. It probably would have worked for an 8X8 size pan, but then the cresent rolls would have been too long. On top of all that I had to take some Zantac after eating it.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2003
I will say these biscuits rose up as everyone said but I only gave 3 stars because I felt they were lacking in taste. I may try this recipe again with buttermilk and see if it makes a difference.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2003
Yummmmm! These were great. My only complaint is that the batch didn't make enough cookies. This is definitely a recipe I'll be making again. I threw a handful of pecans into batter for the last sheet to go in the oven. Next time I may even try this with white chocolate chips.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2003
I used the large, country style ribs and my favorite BBQ sauce as many suggested instead of ketchup. The meat was so tender it was falling off the bones. My husband, who's a picky eater, said he'd like to make this again. I think when I do though, I may leave out the chili sauce and just use an extra cup of BBQ sauce. Add a little more than a dash of hot sauce to kick up the flavor for me.

Velveeta® Cheesy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2003
This is a good recipe if you want a hot meal with minimal effort. I think I'll season the ground beef while browning next time I make this. I went by another reviewers suggestion of only using 8 oz. of cheese, but will use the full 12 next time. Could have stood to be a little cheesier in my opinion. Husband really liked this dish.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2003
I'm giving this 2 stars for the ease of making it and 1 star for taste. This is a good quick dessert if you really need to throw something together in a hurry, but it taste too much like dry cake mix for my taste. The other reviewers are right in this is very rich. Have some milk on hand.
