Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2012
Excellent recipe. Got lots of compliments. I did add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the mixture. I also used some Golden Delicious apples in addtion to Granny Smith. Next time I make this, I will pour part of the mixture over the apples before I add the lattice crust. Sprinkled top with additional cinnamone and sugar.

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2012
This was okay but I really prefer my pumpkin pie sweeter than this. I added a praline topping after tasting the filling before baking. Not sure roasting the sugar pumpkins was worth the effort either. I used the second one I bought to make pumpkin bread.

We just didn't care that much for it. I discovered I really don't like sausage in my meatballs.

Chocolate Pecan Pie III

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
I waited about 15 - 20 minutes before adding the eggs to the cocoa mixture so I wouldn't get the scrambled eggs effect. Wonderful pie. Will be making again.

Melt In Your Mouth Blueberry Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
This was okay. I think it more of a coffee cake than a dessert though.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
This was good. I used 1 can of cream of celery in place of one of the cream of chicken and used chicken stock instead of water. I added some pepper too. Only needed 1 can of biscuits. Can't imagine how anyone gets two cans to fit. I will not use the flaky style biscuits again though.

Zucchini Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2007
Not only was this quick and easy, it was yummmmy! I ended up eating 3 helpings. Next time I make it, I'm going to add some garlic. Might try it with some cheddar cheese too. I'm curious to see how well these freeze and reserve later.

Creamy Asparagus Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2006
This didn't turn out well for me. Sauce never thickened even after 20 minutes and some corn starch thrown in. I ended up straining the asparagus and just tossing it and the pasta with a little butter.

Cherry Crisp

I just wasn't overly impressed with this dessert, though it was very quick and easy to through together. Would do in a pinch. Would cut back on the nutmeg.

Monterey Spaghetti

Reviewed: May 31, 2006
After reading some of the other reviews, I was worried about trying this in the slow cooker so I did it in the oven. I used Colby Jack cheese since Wal-Mart apparently doesn't carry shredded Monterey Jack cheese. Added a tad bit more garlic. Was rather tasty and quick to put together. Needs a bit more liquid or less cooking time because the spaghetti was a little crunchy in some parts of the dish from over cooking. I did about 30 minutes covered until the last five minutes when I added last bit of cheese and onions to the top.

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
This was a tasty change for new potatoes. I cut the potatoes up in smaller pieces then microwaved them for a bit to reduce the oven cooking time. I also doubled the sauce recipe.

E-Z Drop Biscuits

Mine didn't rise much and I thought they were a bit bland. Maybe, I over-mixed but I only did so until everything was blended.

Cannoli Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2005
This was so-so. Like one other reviewer, I didn't care for it frozen at all. I think it might be better to use cream cheese and condensed milk. Maybe use the cherries as a topping.

Skillet Ham, Cabbage and Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2005
I enjoyed this recipe with some slight changes. I used chicken broth instead of water as several suggested and kielbasa instead of ham. Also to quicken up the preparation time, I used a can of diced potatoes instead of chopping up the recommended number of spuds. And this way I didn't have to worry about over cooking to get the potatoes tender. Added some pepper for little more flavor. I will be making this again. I've also found after making this a few times, it taste better the next day as leftovers. So now, I make it, allow it to cool then put it in the fridge to eat the next night.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2005
These were very, very good! Big fluffy pancakes! Great Sunday morning breakfast. I used Egg Beaters instead of regular eggs since hubby is trying to watch his cholesterol. I'm going to trying cutting the recipe in half next time I make it cause that was way to much for just the two of us. The dogs were delighted in the extras though.

Scrumptious Seafood Linguine

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
This was a very good recipe but I wish the sauce would have thickened up a bit more. Husband said it was a keeper though and he's very picky. I used a pound and half of regular sized shrimp and left out the imitation crab since I don't care much for it. Also seasoned it up a bit more with some Greek Seasoning. Served with a salad and garlic bread...great meal. I'm going to work on getting that sauce a bit thicker though. Maybe more cheese.

I've had this recipe for years and make every fall when the first cool weather hits our area. I love the way it makes the house smell. So does my family and neighbors.

Krautburger

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2003
This was okay, but needs spicing up in my opinion. Plus working with that doe was like being in a wrestling match. After the first batch, I gave up and dumped the remainder of the filling in 13X9 dish, layered the cheese slices on top of that then rolled out the second loaf of bread to cover the top. Baked for about 20-25 minutes until the bread was done. Much easier. Just bought a bag of cole slaw mix from produce section and used half of it instead of having to chop up a head of cabbage. I’d use sharp cheddar next time, if I make this again, so that I can actually taste the cheese. Mild cheddar seems to loose its taste when cooked into a dish. Also add some garlic and Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture.

Proper English Cottage Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2003
What a runny mess! Followed the recipe to the letter. Too much milk in the potatoes. Used a deep dish pie plae and put on foil covered cookie sheet. Very glad I did or would have had a huge mess to clean up in the oven. Carrots didn't get done either. Sorry but won't be making this again.
