Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
Followed the recipe exactly and wasn't impressed. So many spices, but not a whole lot of flavor. There are better pork chop recipes out there so I recommend not wasting your time!

Not bad, but not stellar either. Just looking for a little bit more flavor!

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
Fantastic! Made almost as is, just used Italian seasoning when cooking the chicken (and like another reviewer, cooked it in olive oil then used the same pan to make the sauce), fresh mushrooms, and put half of the Parmesan cheese in with the flour and then the other half on top. I also neglected to add the salt since the chicken broth I used had plenty of sodium. Fiance gave it an "A++" and asked it to be added to the regular rotation!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
Just made this for dinner tonight. Here are my notes: - Forgot the flour (oops!) - With other reviewers recommendations about letting frying a little longer, I didn't pay quite as much attention to this portion as I should have. Ended up with a few blackened chops (another oops!) - Maybe it was because I forgot the flour, but I ended up throwing away at least a whole cup of bread crumbs. Next time I think I’ll measure out less and add more if I need to. - I did a quality check on the gravy before adding it to the chops, wasn’t a big fan, so thankfully I had another can of cream of mushroom and tried one reviewer’s suggestion of substituting the wine with chicken broth. LOVED the result. Baked for 45 minutes then added the gravy and put back in the oven for 15 more. I think if I make it again I'll actually warm the gravy separately and just add it on at the end. Overall, it was REALLY yummy. Definitely a perfect dish for company since you can put it in the oven and clean the kitchen before everyone arrives!

Sloppy Joes II

Yummy! Followed the recipe exactly and it was delicious! This will definitely be added to the dinner rotation, but I think next time I'll cut down the brown sugar - the ketchup has enough sugar in it already!

Delish! Made this for a nice Sunday night supper - very flavorful. Followed the recipe nearly exactly except for substituting beef broth for the water and adding cornstarch to thicken the gravy. Boyfriend approves!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Delicious! I made this as a side dish for our Christmas feast and it was a hit! I followed the recipe to a T, except for adding an extra cup of cheddar cheese since I wanted it nice and cheesy! I definitely recommend this!

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2007
I received a bread machine for Christmas and have since been on a quest to find the perfect bread. This is it! My boyfriend described it as his "favorite bread ever!" I did follow BERMYROSE's advice, making the exact same substitutions as she did. This is definitely a keeper!

Waldorf Astoria Red Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2007
Just made this for my sweetie for Valentine's Day. It turned out perfectly, but I decided I'm more of a fan of regular, sweeter cake. As for the frosting, I followed other reviewer's advice to double the frosting, and I ended up with enough frosting for two cakes (funny how that works, huh?). Although, I simply stacked one cake on top of the other, so there were only two layers, not 4, so maybe that's why I had so much frosting left over! Good quality recipe, though!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2007
I know I'm just another in a long line of reviewers, but I enjoyed this recipe just as much as everyone else! I didn't read through all the reviews, but from most of them I gathered modifications, which added up to a winning recipe! - I only used 1/4 cup of brown sugar. - I added 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce to the ketchup/brown sugar mix. - I used 1/2 cup of milk and 1 egg. - I added 2 cloves of garlic to the meat mixture. Plus, I love celery, so I chopped up some of that and added it in. Finally, I used a cup of season bread crumbs instead of the crackers. Being impatient and hungry, I followed another user's idea and made mini-loves in my muffin pan. I put the ketchup/brown sugar sauce on bottom, cooked for 30 minutes at 350 degrees, then spooned the rest of the sauce on top and cooked another 15. This was so delicious, I can't wait to make it again - this time in actual loaf form. Yum yum!

Baked Orange Roughy Italian-Style

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2007
Made this last night - and it was good, although I think from reading all the stellar reviews I expected too much. It's definitely healthy, so I'll make it again, but maybe try tilapia like other users. Like others suggested, I soaked the fish in milk before assembling and I served it over rice.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
Delicious! Made this last night for my boyfriend and we both loved it! Has so many good flavors. I made some minor alterations/substitutions. First, I seasoned the chicken breasts, then put them in the fridge for an hour to soak up the flavoring. Then, I used 1/2 Half & Half, 1/2 Heavy Cream (although next time I'll use all Half & Half), as other users mentioned, the sauce is thin, so I just added a couple of tablespoons of corn starch. That worked perfectly! Finally, because I love cajun seasoning, I added an (additional) 1/2 a teaspoon in with all the other spices. Will definitely be making again!

Ginger Snaps II

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
These were delicious! I prefer my ginger snaps to be on the softer, chewier side, and these turned out absolutely perfect (not too crispy and not too chewy)! Because I like them softer, I used butter instead of the shortening and doubled the cinnamon and ginger. Yum!

Kathy's Award Winning Barbeque Sauce

I made this the other day for ribs I was making in the crock spot. They were spicy and good, however when I did a blind taste test for my boyfriend, he picked the store-bought kind.

Taking a suggestion from another reviewer, and being short on time, I tried this in the crock pot. It came out a oily, greasy, bland mess. I might try making it again - this time following the recipe exactly!

Excellent! Simple, easy to make, and flavorful make this recipe a five star in my book. Like other reviewers, I substituted two cans of diced tomatoes for the tomato juice. Put it all in the crock pot on high for four hours and served it on hot dogs. Wah-lah! Amazing chili dogs! Thanks George!

Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2006
Interesting. Like other reviewers - it has a distinct taste, however it didn't really spark my tastebuds. I made it exactly as written and served it over bowtie pasta, but I think that I could achieve a similar effect with a jar of roasted pepper spaghetti sauce and italian sausage.

Chicken and Spinach Alfredo Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2006
After reading all the reviews I expected this to have a more powerful taste. It was good - but definitely not restaurant quality. I also use half & half instead of heavy cream, which I'm guessing made it a lot less rich (that's good in my opinion!).
