Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2003
Do reduce the baking powder to 2 tsp. This is a dry shortcake, but I think many of the people who were disappointed in it expected a sponge-cake-like shortcake, instead of the biscuit variety. These are supposed to be dryer, and get their moisture from the strawberry juice and whipped cream served with them.

Egg Roll Wrappers

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2002
Tasty, easy and great to use! Try them with the sambusa recipe here on allrecipes, or eat them by themselves. I found that a skillet was much easier to use than a wok.

Mediterranean Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2004
This was super! I left the olives out, and don't feel like we missed anything. We used the Kraft Sun Dried Tomato dressing, and a lot less than the recipe called for, which makes it much healther than the nutrition info here suggests.

Apple Cheddar Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2002
Good, but not to be eaten plain (needs butter). Foe one cup self-rising flower substitute one cup all-purpose plus 1/4 teaspoon baking powder and a "pinch" of salt.

Sambusa

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2002
This was *excellent* I ended up making it with potsticker wrappers, and was duly impressed! The spice mix is wonderful and it makes just the right amount of food. You won't be disappointed.

Moroccan Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2003
This was so tasty! We used red kidney beans once, and liked that combination even better than the chickpeas. Will definitely be making this again.

Spinach and Cheese Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2003
Definitely needs additional spices! I also wish that it had been more mixed, instead of all the cheese and then all spinach, but that could just be me. If you're looking for a baking dish - this was a little too much for an 8 x 12 x 2 Pyrex.

Spinach And Tomato Filo Pastry Parcels

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2005
This was super good with some modifications, the other reviewer is right in that it'd be quite bland as written. Our additions were some garlic and a tomatillo (a little beastie that looks like a small green tomato wrapped in lettuce leaves. uncooked, it tastes quite sour, but once cooked, it has just a little bite).

Bunjal Chicken

Reviewed: May 4, 2003
Terrific - a good change of pace. I also doubled the sauce recipe for one chicken, and added some extra tomato paste so it would spread nicely (as the recipe wanted, it was *very* heavy on onion!)

Honey Orange Basil Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2005
Awesome, no changes necessary, but I do like a stronger basil flavor. Alternative for a stronger orange is to use 1/4 cup of frozen orange juice concentrate. Yum.

Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Tastes as it should. Orange juice is a nice touch, and I found the 1 cup to be about the right amount.

Cheesy BBQ Chicken Breast Sandwich

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2002
This was very tasty! Add garlic for extra bite. I made this with white American cheese and KC Masterpiece original BBQ sauce. Depending on your preference, I'd suggest green onions over regular for this.

Lime Chicken Picante

Great to serve with saffron rice (rice soaked in cold water and saffron, cook normally, add peas, red bell peppers, salt, to serve)

Yum. Added chopped fresh basil in place of dry spices. I'll be making this again.

Stuffed Chicken Breasts with Sweet-and-Sour Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2002
EXCELLENT chicken recipe - tender, sweet, tangy sauce. Substitute Golden Delicious for a slightly weaker apple flavor. Extra garlic adds a little tang.

Apple Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2002
The filling in this recipe is really good. I found pie filling was way too sweet for this though - make your own topping instead.

Basil Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2005
Really tasty, but it came out rather thinner at the end than I would have liked. Added a flour/butter "clay" to the pot, still simmering, to improve consistency.

Irish Soda Bread Cookies

Tasty, especially with the hint of caraway. Caraway is a new flavor for many people and a good accent to the currants. I doubled the number of currants and would love to have had even more!

Cheryl's Spinach Cheesy Pasta Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2005
Excellent with some easy modifications. Reviewers who said this needed spices are so right - we added garlic and fresh basil, as well as a little salt and pepper. Fresh spinach also makes this livelier. This was great with the Muir Glen Spicy Tomato Sauce.

Yum. Do as everyone else says - double the sauce, add 1 T corn starch, serve with mashed potatoes (especially baby reds).
