French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
I've made this twice now, the first time with red and yellow onions, the second time with all yellow. Both times I used organic low sodium Better Than Bouillon beef and chicken paste rather than canned broth. 50 percent of each. The first time I used fresh herbs, the second time dried. Both worked fine. The only major suggestion I have is to cut the bread super thin, otherwise it soaks up too much of the broth and leaves the soup a little dry.

Roasted Asparagus and Garlic

Really bland. Surprisingly bland, I had high hopes. Maybe it needs some chicken broth.

Sweet and Savory Kale

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
I loved this, I took others advice and only used 1 cup of broth and did not add any sugar, it was sweet enough. I've made it 3 times and used dried cranberries, tart cherries, and prunes, so any dried fruit will work. Also, there is no way this makes 6 servings, more like 3 small or 2 large.

Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
This could be a good recipe, but I rally feel that olive oil is the wrong oil to use here, too strong a flavor. Next time I would use a more neutral tasting oil. I ended up putting in a splash of rice vinegar to counteract the taste of the olive oil.

Pretty Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
We really liked this, my husband raved on and on. We marinaded it much longer than 4 hours, actually froze it in the marinade, Also we baked it in the oven and it came out great.

Famous Japanese Restaurant-Style Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
This was great. I used grapeseed oil because that is what I have. I did not add water or catsup. I added more celery and carrots to equal the celery. I also added a splash of toasted sesame oil. I made it in a food processor not a blender, and didn't really chop the ingredients first. We really enjoyed it.

Amish Slaw

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
We have been searching for a vinegar based slaw recipe for a long time. We've had it at parties, but it was with delivered barbecue from various southern locations. No stores here in NYC sell it, and this was the first recipe online I found in the direction we were looking for. I used a bit less sugar and a bit more mustard and onions. It was awesome. Thank you.

Scrambled Eggs Done Right

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
It was really surprising, when I made these eggs, my husband loved them and asked what I did differently. Like some others, I mixed the mayo and water first.

Lemon Green Beans with Walnuts

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
We really liked this. I cut it in half since there are only 2 of us, used Trader Joes frozen beans and microwaved them. Probably only used half as much zest, but all the juice. I love lemon and my husband liked it too. I'll make this again.

Pittsburgh Chipped Ham Barbecues

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2004
We really loved this, a couple of modifications...I added some diced onion and Tobasco sauce. I used garlic powder and no salt. We thought it was a little sweet, so I put in a little mustard before adding the ham. I'll cut the sugar in half next time. Will definitely make this again, maybe tomorrow! We have a lot of leftover ham.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2002
this recipe does not yield "browned" chicken like the description says. I used lots of spice and the result was the blandest, mealiest tasting chicken I've ever had. My husband isn't as offended by it as I am, maybe he's just hungry, but I won't be making this ever again.
