Hearty Party Pozole

I would give a star to the group that submitted this recipe only because it is simple and very easy to follow. However cooking the meat for only 5-6 minutes is very dangerous...if you a dealing with pork or chicken. For anyone who wants to try this recipe just make sure that the meats are fully cooked and that the flavors have mellowed.

Basic Fruit Smoothie

We enjoyed trying your basic smoothie recipe in different ways. The first time we made it with tropical fruits, papaya, mango, canned and orange juice. Other times we just used what we had around the house...which is usually ripe bananas and strawberries, our family likes to add a couple of teaspoons of vanilla and we sprinkle it with a bit of cinnamon powder just to give it an extra kick. Another possibility is making it with milk instead of water, this is great when you do not have time to have a sit-down meal. Good basic recipe. Thank you Janelle!

Filipino Ribs

Thanks Christine for a wonderful Asian ribs recipe. I must admit that finding all the ingredients required for it was not an easy task...as far a the quantity of meat, well it was a little bit too much for our family. The solution was to scale the recipe down to 8. It was a time consuming and labor intensive project...but it is well worth it for a special celebration. Your ribs can be the star of any feast. Salamat!

Banana Bread IV

Teri, your recipe is the answer to my prayers! Living in Texas we have more "ripe" bananas than I would really care to admit. We used to make the perfect banana bread by following a recipe that was printed in the banana bags...where is the recipe? I don't know! However we feel that yours is so much better because it includes vanilla, which is a staple item in our household...and we do not use any kind of cheap vanilla, it has to be genuine Mexican vanilla. Thanks so much for the BEST BANANA BREAD in the net!

Fresh California Salsa

This is a good basic salsa...now if you really want to make it a California salsa you need to add at least one avocado and do not use so much garlic, unless you are looking for a Gilroy taste. Gilroy, California is known for its garlic every-thing...garlic perfume, garlic ice cream etc. Lets just stick to our basic salsa. Buen provecho !!!

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Wonderful, simple and easy chicken recipe! I have tried it a couple of times before, but this last time my daughter suggested to make it with chicken tenders. It was a lot easier and faster to cook. With the tenders that were left I made submarine sandwiches and they were just wonderful even when the Honey Mustard Chicken tenders were cold. Next time I plan to serve them with a salad, something like a Caesar Salad. Wow, can't wait to try it again. Thanks to Ms.Bane for her wonderful contribution to our cookbook!

Apple Enchilada Dessert

ReDonna you have a great dessert in the making! I followed your directions but decided to make the apple filling from scratch, since I do not care for the canned flavor. The sauce needs to be a bit thicker and serving it with ice cream, a little bit of Kalhua (coffee liqueur) and pecans made it just perfect in our book (cookbook). Now...let's talk about the name...why ENCHILADAS??? They are really sweet tacos or crepas (crepes), since you did not use any chile in the recipe. Your dessert is making believers out of a lot of husbands who do not care for sweets. Great job!!

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Your stew is very similar to Carne Guisada...I did try it but without half of the chiles, peppers and other very hot spices. However, I did add a little bit of oregano and ground cumin. Even though I was born in Mexico I feel that you do not have to sacrifice your taste buds to obtain great flavor. Thanks so much Charley for sharing this great recipe with us. Ay Caramba, como pica!!!!

Baked Potato Soup I

You have created the ultimate comfort soup, it is just delicious. Sherry, thanks so much for your wonderful creation. For those of us who are trying to watch our family's cholesterol levels it is a good idea to substitute the cheese and sour cream with a low fat version. I also decided to use the potatoes as a thickener and just a bit of corn starch. You have a winning recipe!

Fun and simple to prepare breakfast smoothie. The only thing that was a draw-back is the price of the Instant Breakfast Drink..and of course the calories...but who's counting when you are in a hurry? Try it, at least once.

German Potato Salad

April your salad is just delicious and easy to prepare. We did not adjust the vinegar or the bacon but my children added just a touch of mayo and prepared mustard to make it a little bit more creamy. Thanks for sharing your family's favorite with our family. Yum!!!

Azteca Soup

Wow...what a recipe! I brings back happy memories for me. It is nice, easy and quick to prepare. I did not use as much oil as recommended...the amount of cilantro was a bit much, it should be used as a garnish only, with lime, onions etc. Adding a cup or two of chicken would be just perfect. I will prepare this in order to use my Thanksgiving "saved-over" turkey. Gracias Andre, tu sopa es digna de un soberano Azteca !!!

Brazilian Black Bean Soup

This is a very interesting soup, similar to the popular Black Bean Turtle or Cuban Soup. The addition of o.j. gives it an interesting twist.. except that a cup seems to be a bit much. Maybe 3-4 oz. would be just right for my family. Liebelune you got a great thing going, keep it up!

Easy Iced Coffee

This "cafe au lait" is simple, inexpensive and quick to prepare. I liked it for those reasons. If you happen to have (non-instant) expresso available this recipe will be as good as Starbucks, at a fraction of the price. Thanks for your wonderful recipe Christy!

Orange Glorious I

Wonderful drink. Almost as good as Orange Julius.. the missing ingredient....a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or maybe a couple of spoonfuls of vanilla malt (powder). My family loved it with malt. Brook's recipe is yummy but it needs the extra "creamy" texture. Try it our way..it's great too.

Fresh Salsa I

This Fresh Salsa recipe contains too many canned items to be considered fresh. I would have substituted fresh veggies and chiles. The use of sugar is interesting...it counter-balances the flavor. Use it, but only a half portion. I will not make it my family's favorite, but in a pinch it will do.
