Slow-Cooked Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2014
I make this soup ALL the time because my whole family DEVOURS it. I have experimented with the recipe a little bit and found that I like it most when I make it this way: use sausage instead of ham (I use link sausages, not ground sausage), use heavy whipped cream instead of most of the milk, and omit the onion (simply because I don't like them much). Easy comfort food meal and it always gets raves!

Banana Muffins with a Crunch

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
These muffins were delicious. My husband raved over them, and the whole family really enjoyed them. I did make a couple of changes - I used buttermilk, as suggested in another review. I also did not have granola, so I used Nature Valley Granola cereal, which worked perfectly. Delicious!

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2004
Yum! I had to make some substitutions - onion powder instead of onion flakes, canned mushrooms instead of fresh, and turkey bacon instead of regular bacon - but it still turned out great. Chicken was very moist. Next time, I'm going to make it with all the right ingredients, but YUM!

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2004
Very, very good. The meat turned out moist and tender. I cooked mine in the crockpot for 6 hours on low and 1 hour on high. The spices were wonderful.

Waikiki Cornbread

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2004
Yum, yum! This cornbread has a wonderful, sweet taste. I used Krusteaz buttermilk pancake mix as some others did, and it worked great. The cornbread is a bit crumbly, but I just shook the crumbs onto the top of my chili and enjoyed. Great recipe!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
These are delicious. Mine were fairly gooey, but they should be perfect after sitting for awhile. The frosting was thick and difficult to spread, but it looked smooth when the brownies were cool. Yum!

Basil Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
Yum. I, too, doubled the sauce which made it a nice, creamy pasta dish. It was just a tiny bit bland -- should I have doubled the spices, too? Maybe that was the problem. Still, a yummy dish.

Busy Day Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2003
I wasn't very impressed with this recipe. I used a whole packet of onion soup mix, and it made the casserole very salty. Also, it just wasn't as tasty as I had hoped.

Southern Living Magazine's Chicken-Fried Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2003
This wasn't as good as I expected it to be, considering the great reviews it got here. Of course, I am a novice, so it's possible that I did something (or lots of things!) wrong. The gravy was very bland. Also, my steaks cooked a lot faster than the recipe said, so they were a little more brown than I expected. As my husband said, "It's no Frontier Pies." (Frontier Pies is our favorite homestyle restaurant in Utah)

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2002
I've tasted better homemade bread, but this is pretty darn good. I'm a first-time bread maker, and mine turned out great, despite the fact that I used old yeast. I cut the recipe in half and made two loaves. Will make again. Thanks!

Fried Rice I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2002
My husband and I really enjoy this recipe--the bacon is a delicious addition to fried rice. I make this several times a month; I frequently use frozen mixed vegetables instead of just peas. Thanks for the great recipe!
