Hot Maryland Crab Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2014
Awesome, simple crab dip recipe. Changes I made: added 1 jalapeno, extra old bay and some paprika as other reviewers suggested. Also used canned crab, drained SUPER well, and used regular mayo instead of miracle whip or creamy salad dressing or whatever (I have used regular mayo in a lot of dips and it always works fine). Great flavor and the cheddar cheese crust was delicious! If you serve it at room temperature, I recommend mixing the cheddar cheese in because it hardens if it's on top and makes it hard to dip. Served with Hawaiian Luau chips. Awesome!

Keema (Indian-Style Ground Meat)

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
I was looking for a quick and dirty recipe that involved the use of garam masala and ground beef. This one fit the bill. Four stars because I believe it would have been bland without the spices I used suggested by other reviewers. My recipe used a package of ground beef, 2.5 tablespoons garam masala, a teaspoon of salt, a dash of coriander, cayenne pepper, cumin and cinnamon. I ground the coriander myself. Then I mixed in the onion, garlic, beef broth and tomato paste as suggested. My husband and I really enjoyed this meal and I'll be keeping it around for future use. Thanks again!

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
I added rosemary/oregano instead of fresh parsley, and used 1 cup of parmesan/asiago cheese instead of the amount in the recipe. This was fabulous. Will definitely be making it again.

Traditional White Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
Other bread recipes I have used made the bread too sweet, and I wasn't about to go and buy a bread maker when I could find a recipe to use without one. I am so glad I stumbled upon this recipe. It tastes just like the homemade bread you have been waiting for. My house smells lovely now. Thank you so much! Saved for life!

Southwest-Style Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
Definitely a keeper for Superbowl Sunday and other holidays! We tried these baked and fried - the verdict was that fried was the way to go. Super yummy and an interesting fusion. Like!

Uncle Jesse's French Toast

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2011
Awesome french toast. Nice, muted flavors, and not overwhelmingly and sickeningly sweet like you might get at a restaurant. I did add milk to mine, and I drizzled honey over the top of my finished product. Delicious!

Rosemary Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2011
Pretty good. Will probably make again. Was slightly bland and needed a bit more flavor for us to really enjoy it, though the flavor we could taste was enjoyable. I would encourage people to take the suggestion of boiling the potatoes for 10 minutes before baking, as they came out perfect with the shorter baking time. I also added extra rosemary, garlic and garlic salt, although in the future I will add even more. I also minced the onion and cut the potatoes into eighths. With the changes of more spices/flavor, I'm sure this would be a wonderful side.

Rosemary Chicken with Orange-Maple Glaze

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2011
This dish brings about a strange fusion of flavors that, frankly, isn't at all appealing. I saw what other reviewers said about the flavors not going together, but tried it myself to see. I made it exactly as the recipe stated. The glaze has a very strong Asian flavor that I didn't expect, but the sweet orange/teriyaki-esque flavor paired with rosemary was not pleasant whatsoever. It was also a bit too sweet; perhaps using oranges instead of just orange juice might be better? I also discovered that the chicken came out pretty dry, which I noticed a few other people have mentioned, but that might have been my own cooking error; who knows. Dinner was ok, but the leftovers were unpalatable. I will continue searching for a good chicken stable; this doesn't fit the bill at all.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2011
Look no further for a spinach and artichoke dip recipe. This. Is. Phenomenal. It tastes like something you would get at a restaurant, only better. The only changes I have ever made were to add more garlic (my husband and I are big garlic fans), and to mix the mozzarella in instead of putting it on top (so it doesn't make those unsightly cheese puddles at the top after baking). It's this good: the last time I took it to a party, though it's always a hit, people liked it so much that the host's food was ignored until my dish was completely clean of any dip. The only problem? You'll never have any leftovers for yourself!
