Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2014
I hate cranberry anything--especially canned cranberry sauce. Yuck! But this is the second year that I have made this recipe and it is so yummy. I used a 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup of brown sugar and added a splash of water to the orange juice. I cooked it for about 15 minutes and it thickened up perfectly. For a person who has never liked cranberry sauce--I love this. Excellent!

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2014
This is excellent! I took the advice of other reviewers and used 1/2 mayo, 1/2 sour cream and used marinated artichoke hearts. I also added about 1 cup thawed/squeezed dry spinach to the mixture and it was so yummy! I sprinkled a little paprika on top for color and it turned out perfect--just like the main picture on the recipe. My husband loved this. It's totally a keeper!

Grilled Lemon Yogurt Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2014
I thought this was very tasty. I used chicken thighs, since they tend to have more flavor, and they were very juicy and tender. I did not make the dipping sauce and we didnt miss it. Very good!

Chicken Valdostano

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2014
This was good. I stayed true to the recipe with only minor changes; adding olive oil with the butter and omitting the white pepper (didnt have any)and it turned out well. My husband really liked it.

Tzatziki Sauce II

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2014
Love this sauce! I use greek yogurt, because the texture is thicker and richer. Also I use dill weed instead of mint. I dont shred the cucumber, I dice it into small pieces so there is some crunch. Refridgerate it a few hours before serving to allow the garlic flavor to kick in. Excellent!

Cheddar and Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: May 14, 2014
I've been making a version of this salad for years. I use ditalini pasta instead of elbow and coarsely chopped gherkins instead of sweet relish, since I love the crunch of the pickles in this with the cheese. And I leave out the celery and peppers, but add about 5 chopped green onions and a small jar of pimentos. It is also much better with sharp cheddar than mild cheddar. My Mother made this when I was growing up and it's tasty with these alterations. Perfect for summer. Yumm!

Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2014
I thought this was very good! I followed the advice of the top reviewer and increased the sugar to 1 cup, used baking soda instead of baking powder, added 1 t. vanilla, 1 cup chocolate chips and baked it in an 8x8 loaf pan. It turned out great--except for one thing that was entirely my fault: I used 4 mushy bananas and the middle was a little undercooked after 40 minutes. If I had used less banana it would have cooked solid in the middle. Still, it is excellent and I will make this again and again. Yummy!

Romanian Apple Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2013
This is very good! I made this exactly as stated and it was very tasty. I used 5 Gala apples and it was more than enough apples for the amount of batter. It baked up nicely and has a slightly crispy exterior that I thought was yummy. Very simple, yet flavorful cake. My husband loved it. Great recipe!

Smothered Filet Mignon

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2013
Excellent! So easy to make and very flavorful. The balsamic marinade is excellent. I used dijon and will again. I also used sweet onions and omitted the sugar, there is no need for it. My husband loved it. A keeper!

Spinach and Feta Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: May 2, 2013
These are yummy! I halved the recipe and it made 4 good sized burgers. I added some lemon juice and worcestershire sauce as some suggested. I also added 1/4 cup of plain bread crumbs to combat the jiggly issues others mentioned. They were firm and held together well, yet juicy and tender. I served them in pita bread with Tzatziki sauce. Excellent! I will make these often.

Pasta e Fagioli a la Chez Ivano

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2013
I thought this was very tasty! I cut the servings down to 4 and it still made a ton. Also mine turned out to be much thicker than a soup. Almost like an Italian pasta stew. It was still very tasty and we had leftovers the next day and it was great. I'd make this again.

Taco Casserole

I thought this was pretty darn good! I made it just as written, except maybe adding more chips on the top, and it was very yummy. It's almost like having nachos with a little pasta in it. A keeper!

Cheese Onion Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
Man, this is good!! Very easy to make and so yummy. I baked it in the oven for a few minutes before switching to broil. I wanted the bread to get a little crispy and warm inside. It was so delicious. I cant see making this an everyday thing because it is pretty bad for you, but--it is excellent!! A keeper.

Zucchini Herb Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2012
This is good. I did follow the advice of other reviewers and increased the amount of spices. I also added a little chopped red bell pepper. I do think the trick to make this truly amazing is to swap out the cheddar cheese for monterey jack cheese. Just a hunch on that. All-in-all it is very good.

Chocolate Mousse Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2012
This was very tasty! I used dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate bar and it was very good. Super fluffy and super easy to make. My husband likes more of a pudding cream pie and this is more of a chiffon, but he said it was very delicious.

Grill Dough

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2012
Finally!! I have been making pizza on the grill for a few years now, but havent found a dough recipe I like--until now. This is great! Crisp and thin and yummy. We like woodfired pizza from a local restaurant and this recipe makes a very similar crust. I used my KitchenAid mixer and let the dough hook knead the heck out of it it for about 5 minutes and then let it rise for about 2 hours. The best way to cook pizza on the grill is to cook one side, flip it and then quickly assemble the pizza and then continue cooking. Depending on how many topping, etc. I will throw it under a broiler for just a bit to carmelize the top. Perfect!

Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2012
Excellent! The marinade is so yummy and tastes just like the Hawaiian chicken we used to get at my husbands favorite Hawaiian restaurant in Portland, Oregon--NoHo's. I also included Vidalia sweet onion on the kabobs with the pineapple and chicken chunks. I also made two batches; one for the chicken to marinate in and a separate one for the pineapple and Vidalia sweet onion. I served it with a creamy macaroni salad, which is a staple at any good Hawaiian restaurant. This is a keeper! My husband asked me to make this again and again. Yummy!!

Aw-some Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
This is very good and so easy to make. My husband said it was the best cole slaw he has ever eaten and he loves cole slaw. No need to ever buy dressing in a jar again. I added minced dried onion to the mayo/milk mixture and some celery seed, plus added another tablespoon or so of vinegar and cut the sugar down to 1/4 cup. I let the dressing sit for a few hours in the fridge before I put it on the cabbage. Excellent! A keeper!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2012
Excellent! This is THE recipe for pulled pork. So easy and the results are amazing. I used a pork sirloin roast instead of a tenderloin. It was about $6.00. I poured 3 cans of A&W over it, added some minced dried onions, 3 cloves of smashed garlic and cooked it on low for 6 hours. Then I drained it, shredded the meat and added one bottle of Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce (the best!!) and cooked it for another hour. It was outstanding! A keeper.
