Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2011
Very good. Nice easy and simple. Can even make the butter ahead, put on room temp on the sizzling steak and let melt on your steak

Ropa Vieja in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2011
A bland for my taste. I have to admit I forgot the garlic and I know that would have added flavor but this recipe reminded me of a plain pot roast, bland! The taste of the chuck pot roast was so overwhelming and disappointing. A true ropa vieja should be made with a flank steak. Trust me, I was born and raised on ropa vieja growing up in Miami. Trying so many different versions, this recipe was missing something, not just the garlic ;)

Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2011
How refreshing! I omitted the lemon juice and triple sec and subsituted peach schnapps. I did quadruple the recipe and used only 1/2 cup sugar and a whole container of frozen lemon concentrate. I used more brandy and peach schnapps than listed. I will make again.

Lemon Cake with Lemon Filling and Lemon Butter Frosting

Reviewed: May 9, 2011
Very disappointed by this cake. I needed a lemon cake so I made this recipe. Where was the lemon in this cake??? Am I missing something? I added lemon zest and 1/2 cup of lemon juice to the batter. When it came out it had not risen at all and was dense & dry. It was more of a pound cake or coffe cake. I would give this 1 star except it was a decent coffee cake to dip in your coffee.

Ground Turkey Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2011
What a delish dish! There was a bit of tang from the cream cheese which was so comforting. I use lowfat milk instead of powdered and water. I also added a little extra of everything. I used a jar of spaghetti sauce instead of tomato. Full of flavor with my added touches!

Very tasty. Just be sure not to overcook as the eggs will curdle.

Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce III

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2011
Delicious! Used a raisin challah which was a perfect compliment. This took approx 1hr and 30 mins at 300. At the last minute, I realized I did not have whiskey so I used Creme Anglaise from this site.

Orange Herb Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Expected a burst of orange flavor but it just wasn't there. I am big zester and should have zested the oranges and placed the zest under the skin. Mmm, next time.

Hidden Valley Ranch Smashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Very good, did not wow but did not disappoint either. The full packet of ranch added too much tang for me. Would definitely try again maybe use 1/2 packet.

My Mom's Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
Tasty and so easy. I used chicken and marinated for 1 hour in a balsamic dressing. I don't think I would use 1/2 cup of wine next maybe just 1/4 cup there was a lot of juices

Very simple and delicious! Just be sure you don't overbeat. Mine turned to a butter-like not smooth at all.

Chicken Potpie

Great recipe! Had to make several adjustments. I had to half this as my pan could not hold everything. One recommendation is have everything out and ready to use.

It took me awhile to get the egg yolks to 160 degrees. When they did, they were cooked and curdled.

Cornish Game Hens with Garlic and Rosemary

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
How delicious! I roasted these hens breast down which allowed the lemon juice and rosemary to be asborbed in the breast. I will definitely use this for chicken.

Chocolate Cappuccino Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
The cake was indeed sinful but was way too soft. Needed to be firmer and I chilled for 24 hours before eating. Almost impossible to serve, just collasped. Delicious though! I used oreo cookies and 3Tbsp of butter for the crust. I also had trouble with the crust sticking to the sides even though I buttered it. Thank God for the whipped cream to fix the flaws.

Made mini muffins of these for my son's daycare. They gobbled them up! I used 1 1/2 cups mashed bananas (approx 4 bananas) and kept everything the same.
