Caramelized Onion and Horseradish Smashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2014
I loved these mashed potato's, I have no regrets made as directed, except, I chopped the onions smaller to carmelize, so no stringy situation, as some have reported, you got it right with the horseradish and above all, the best, will make these with beef at least 2 times a week, will be a regular rotation in our meals, thanx for sharing.

I made this chicken dish as directed, except I took the skin off of 2 of the bone in skin on chicken thighs, 2 of us love the bone in skin off and the other 2 love it bone in skin on, for 2 of us, with the skin off, was a calorie thing, but we loved the way they turned out, will make again for company, love the spice, will use 2 onions next time, for the love of them.

Split Pea and Ham Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2014
been making this soup for many a yr, love to put in slow cooker, ham bone, or 2 small ham hocks, (ham hocks take a while to cool and rid of fat and put the smoky meat back in, but I do it when I have no ham bone, liquid smoke is a cop out, but with added garlic bay leaf carrots onion's, and celery, and low sodium chicken stock, it is a 5 star, thank you all for your reviews (oh a few dashes of hot sauce doesn't hurt either, I leave it out if children are eating it (adults can add as much heat as they want)thank-you for sharing.

Grown Up Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2014
yes, love this grilled cheese sandwich, been making up my own different grilled cheese sandwich's for yrs, so happy so many love this, my thoughts are,? why haven't so many cooks experimented with different grilled cheese sandwich's, It is bind blowing, hey try spinach in between (oh you have to thaw frozen spinach, and with a clean dry towel, wring out excess water) season with some salt, spinach need's a little, add different cheese's and maybe a meat, or keep it vegetarian, heat spinach in microwave until just warm, put between one side of cheese then spinach and a little salt, maybe a few 3 grinds of nutmeg (use a pharmasan shredder) and put two more slice's of what ever cheese you like, or sauté some shrooms diced put between the cheese, use your imagination, it all works out, butter the bread and grill or use a panini press, sorry for the spelling, had surgery today, getting ready to make a grilled cheese with pastrami, swiss, cheddar and some drained sourkrout (sorry spelling) and a cup of soup, (home made chicken noodle) yum"

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2014
i have made these before, I love the little smokies, but I buy the light little smokies, a few less calorie's but not missed, less greasy, I use turkey bacon (don't omg me) I cut bacon in thirds, coat with brown sugar, then with a paper towel micro wave them until they are half done, but still rollable, with that grease left behind on paper towels, add more brown sugar and use the oven to heat the lite smokies, sorry about how long, I just an eye on them, until hot, then put broiler and turn them once to finish the crisping of the turkey, a lot less grease, every body loves them, the woman even like them, I tell them the less calories, the men inhale them, haven't had a complaint, they are glued to the game, and a few beers, they have never asked that they taste different.

have been making this for yrs, a change in meat, sometimes bacon, turkey bacon, sausage, I love the Yukon potato, and I do microwave it a little to cut down on cooking time in the pan, it is so good any way you wish to choose the ingredients, I do not use all of the bacon grease, I put a little in and add extra virgin olive oil, I like what cheese I have on hand, I've used pepper jack, sharp cheddar, mozz, whatever I have on hand, thank-you for your version.

Baked Omelet Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
yes made it pretty much the same added fresh mushrooms, and a little hot sauce, other than this, I kept to the recipe, the one who used egg beaters and a bunch of this and that, she said nobody knew the difference, wow! I would know in one second, the color is off, and the people who ate this, are not cooks, but I want to say hooray for you, my family would know the tasteless difference, not in a bad a way, they would just know, they raise their chickens for their eggs, they are fed of course chicken scratch, but they love apples, mangos vegies, all kinds of things, and between the chickens eggs and egg beaters, they would def. know the difference, wish I had your friends!

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2013
have this many times, love this on a cold winter day or evening, the only thing I do first is cut up stew meat, and add a little flour and brown the beef before putting in crock pot, 2nd change I use all fresh vegetables, 3rd use beef stock instead of water and bullion, tried it with the sugar this last time, and it did balance out the acidity of the tomato's, yummy! gonna make it all winter long, soooo gooood!!!!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2013
i have made this chili from a similar, cook book, this is better, I did read some reviews, I love spice, but I'm in my 50's now I can't handle the hot stuff as well as I used too, used 1 can of diced tomato's and one can of diced of diced tomato's with green chili's, used 2 table spoons of chili, added allspice, omitted the red pepper flakes, made some corn bread, and let every one put the cheese and sour cream in a 2 bowl's and let every one put the amount that they wanted in there bowl also chopped up some hot peppers and had people use the amount that they liked, some like it hotter than others, so I giving my guests option's worked well, will make again,2nd time making turkey chili which I will stick with, much lighter than ground chuck oh I added 1 can of black beans and a can of kidney beans, love, thank-you
