About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I'd say comfort foods are probably my favorite things, as they are the one's that everyone enjoys the most. However, I make a terrific roast turkey and broccoli, mushroom, wild rice stuffing. Then there's my lasagne....ok, so I just LIKE to cook!
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only family tradition I know of in our little family is my Grandpa teaching me to pour Coca-Cola on my Thanksgiving turkey. It ALWAYS turns out wonderful! Whenever I tell others how to make my turkey, they look at me strangely when I tell them Coca-Cola is the trick. But then they try it and find out it's really amazing!
My cooking tragedies
I was having my then future husband up for dinner for the first time. I'd planned to make my lasagne, and was sauteing the onions and garlic. Suddenly there was fire all around my pan as the burner had overheated and burned a hole THROUGH the bottom of the pan. My husband and I laugh about it now days, but then I was just mortified!

Robbi's M&M Cookies
This is a pretty good recipe for M&M cookies, but they didn't taste exactly like I remember them tasting. As others mentioned, I did use butter instead of shortening--I'm just a believer that butter is best in most circumstances. Also, if you like your cookies to be pretty uniform, just roll the dough into balls, instead of doing drop cookies, but don't forget to put a few M&M's on the top. They turn out pretty, uniform and round with the pretty colored M&M's on the top.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf
I've been making this wonderful meatloaf for several years now. It is just simply delicious. Not too "salty" or heavy on spices; moist and flavorful. The only thing I have found is that I need to bake it longer than an hour---sometimes even up to 2 hours. Try this recipe, you'll never make any other meatloaf!

Christmas Wreaths
I made these for our church's tree decorating party last night after a week of baking cookies out the wazoo! These were a beautiful addition and very tasty. I added a little almond extract too, for a little more flavor, but got to thinking you could add peppermint extract or even anise. ( Helps to bring the flavors of the season out, ya know?) Work QUICKLY when adding the cornflakes and coating them! I added a touch of white decorating crystals on the tops along with the cinnamon candies. Oh yeah, remember to butter your hands when shaping them in wreaths!
