Indonesian Satay

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2003
This is exellent, the peanut sauce is wonderful, but the recipe makes lots. Also, I saute the onion and garlic in sesame oil and add a litle to the sauce to give it a little taste and it is very good this way. I have made this many times and it alsways a HIT!

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2009
this was only ok. It was vinegary... almost had a BBQ-like quality. I did not measure the spices, but I don't think that would have affected the overall outcome that much. I would not recommend this.

Gramma Brown's Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
First, to the reviewer who left out the celery and bacon, and complained about seasoning.... you need BOTH in this soup. (AND celery in EVERY soup) I added a bay leaf, simmered it for much longer than called for here, and it was a great basic recipe. I will probably tweak it a bit next time, but very good!

Mom's Fabulous Chicken Pot Pie with Biscuit Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
This was a good recipe and the ratios are great! I thought there was too much cream in it though. I would recommend either using milk or using less. Otherwise, I totally recommend this one.

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
This was wayyyy ok much soy, and not much to balance it. I increased the lime juice to more than a tablespoon, from one whole lime. I am not even sure about how to improve this, but either use a fraction of the soy, and a ton more citrus juice, or a different recipe. Sorry, this is not a winner.

Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2012
As written, this is pretty good. Heavy for a cake though. Definitely need to reduce the oil, and up the spices. I added cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Ginger would be good as well as clove if you like it. I'm making this again this evening, replacing some oil with butter and reducing it overall in the recipe.

Creamed Chicken for Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
I know exactly what is missing here... you need to sautee an onion to start with here, then add the flour to the butter, and the broth. I also halved the broth (and the flour) for a better ratio of gravy to chicken.

Ham and Pineapple Kabobs

Reviewed: May 2, 2013
I make this a few times a year, and it is always a hit. I usually double or triple the sauce, and baste with it. I can't say strongly enough to only grill this. Don't try it in the oven or any other way. Grill only. If you cannot grill it, try another recipe. But, try this one! We love it! Usually serve with coconut rice.

Fajita Seasoning

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2013
As written this needs work. Its a good start although you need to use more than the 2tbs recommended to get any decent flavor. I started with 3, added a 4th. I'd probably suggest 6.
