About this Cook
I can go into my kitchen and not come out for two days....I think it may be a genetic problem from growing up in the midwest and finishing up in the south.
My favorite things to cook
It's a fine line between baking and candy-making. I've managed two bakeries and I've cooked in countless restaurants.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday meals with the whole family bringing their favorite dishes to the table.
My cooking triumphs
Fudge!! I finally found the secret!!!
My cooking tragedies
It took me YEARS to find the secret for fudge...now, I'm working on sourdough.

Divinity
Due to time constraints with work, I delegated a specific day to make candy. Worst case divinity scenario; I live in Memphis, it is pouring rain, and unless it is August, I don't think the humidity could be any higher. I followed the recipe to a T, including cutting water by 1 Tb. Unbelievably the little suckers came out beautiful!!! However, they did have to be beat almost 20 minutes. Thanks for all the advice reviewers!

Blackberry Pie I
I have run two bakeries and while the recipe is pretty simplistic (needs a bit more sugar) and good, the baking time is way off. I knew reading it, I would have to adjust it by at least 20 to 30 minutes longer to have the filling come to a boil and thicken. Anything less and you're going to be serving warm blackberry soup.

All-Day Apple Butter
I had my doubts on this recipe, but it's a 5 star winner! I used Arkansas Black apples which were a little on the sweet side, so reduced the sugar to 2 cups. Also left it to cook on slow for close to 13 hours. Seems like one of those rare foolproof recipes! Has just the right tang and sweetness. Almost too easy!
