About this Cook
Allrecipes has taught me how to cook. I am from Huntington, WV... yes, that place that was featured on the Jaime Oliver show for being the unhealthiest city in the US. My family didn't cook. I ate at Subways and McDonald's almost every day until I graduated college. Now, I can't even recall the last time I ate fast food. Cooking is my new hobby!
My favorite things to cook
Healthy and simple. I enjoy trying international cuisine.

Crispy Orange Beef
Too tangy. Vinegar flavor is too strong, and sauce could use some corn starch for thickening. The second time, I tried making a modified version of the sauce from "Addictive Sesame Chicken" recipe on here for this... 1/2 cup OJ, 1 cup beef broth, 1/4 cup white vinegar, 1/4 cup cornstarch, 1 cup white sugar, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tsp orange zest, 1 tbs minced garlic, 1/4 tsp ground ginger, cayenne pepper to taste. Gives it a much sweeter taste.

Easy Coq Au Vin
Was very good the way I made it. I used a pack of 6 chicken wings, added 1/4 tsp thyme and 2 tsp fresh minced garlic, and used 2/3 cups red cooking wine and 1 1/3 cups chicken broth, instead of 1 1/2 cups wine & stock. Cooked in a medium sized pot. Came out very tender and flavorful, but only feeds 2-3. Maybe will try next time with drumsticks or thighs.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
This was surprisingly good for something so simple! Be warned; only make as much as you need. These do not make good leftovers, as the dumplings get soggy from being kept in the fridge overnight.
