Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2014
I make this recipe with beef broth liquid instead of cubes and water. Other than that, I follow it completely. It is really yummy and has joined my menu rotation. All my picky family eaters love it!

Navy Bean Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2014
O EM GEE...you have no idea how happy this recipe has made me! My hubby loves this kind of soup, and usually I leave it to my m-in-law to make it for him. Today, I did the deed, and the results were so delicious - I may be a cook yet! I didn't have dry beans but I did have canned so I used them, and I used chicken broth in place of water as another reviewer suggested. This will go into the rotation, summer, fall, winter and spring! Thank you so much for the recipe!

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2014
Followed this recipe exactly. I was having a busy day so it was quick. There is nothing wrong with this chicken if you are a novice cook. This recipe calls for the least amount of prep, and turns out really well. That said, once you have a few years of cooking under your belt, you will probably have a recipe on hand that has a lot more taste than this basic chicken. ' I may make this recipe again in a busy pinch. Thx for posting it! Keep in mind, if you use an organic chicken, this recipe will be better.

Asparagus and Mushroom Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2014
Loved this. A few changes: I left out the bacon, sauteed the onions, mushrooms and steamed (for 2 minutes) asparagus in butter. One more change: I always use Carnation Milk in place of half & half in quiches - it gives it a wonderful flavour. Other than that, I followed this recipe. It was outstanding! Will definitely become part of the quiche rotation!

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2014
The most finicky bunch of eaters (my family) loved this soup! I have been told to put it into the rotation, and to make it exactly the same way. I modified two things: I used 2 hot and 3 sweet italian sausages as others suggested. Also, I degreased the sausages after frying them (put them into a paper towel lined sieve) and I did not add any salt or pepper. Other than that, I followed the recipe as printed. After working all day its a real treat to make a soup this good in under one hour. Add a nice stick of French bread or the like and viola! - dinner is served!

Creamy Chicken With Pasta and Broccoli

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
Where does the Parmesan go? Missed using it because I am either missing it in the directions or it IS missing! I used cream of broccoli soup and chicken broth in place of cream of chicken and water. It was pretty good but I am finding I do not really like cream cheese flavor in sauces. I think next time I will use sour cream in place of Cream cheese. Good base recipe!!

Mom's Portuguese Beef Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
I made this stew with rosemary instead of parsley, because I had fresh rosemary and no fresh parsley! Otherwise, followed the recipe to the letter; super delicious - no leftowvers! My family love stew, and the addition of sweet potato and wine make this stew really yummy! Putting it in my recipe box!

Home Made Chicken Noodle Soup!

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2012
Easy and quick but more to the point - delicious! Everyone had seconds, and believe me, that is huge in my family! I didn't use the parsnip only because I forgot to buy some - soup was still plenty tasteful. There is no salt added to this recipe so if you are watching your sodium, this soup is plenty flavorful as is!

If you have no soda, use cranberry juice with white wine - very refreshing!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
My teen son had 2 of his pals over, and believe me, they know good from bad. They LOVED these! Ate 6 of the 12! I didn't have brown sugar, so substituted white, with some molasses, plus I added 1 tsp of vanilla. I think this added a lot of flavour, as I did not put the topping on them (no brown sugar) I also used non-salted butter instead of oil as butter always adds a wonderful taste to baked goods. All in all, a very yummy, moist muffin that I will make again!
