Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
This was tasty although I feel like most people like it because it's so sweet! a salad should not be THAT sweet! half the sugar in the dressing and it is just right.

Whole Grain Waffles

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
These were alright, you could definitely taste that they are healthy and they are not sweet. That said, they aren't bad, especially for healthy waffles, I'm just not sure I would make them again.

Raspberry Oatmeal Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
These bars are so easy and delicious. I have made them twice, once with a butter cake mix and once with yellow, the butter turned out much better, I also, like some other reviewers, added a bit of milk to the mix after separating it into the bottom part and the top part. I didn't find it too sweet, perhaps this is because I used a reduced sugar raspberry jam from Trader Joe's and then sprinkled a few chocolate chips on top of the jam. I made it in a tart pan the first time and liked the result better than the suggested square pan. Cut into wedges and it is actually pretty elegant looking and certainly tastes homemade.

Pfeffernuesse Cookie Mix

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
I have been making these for years and everyone adores them, the only change I have made is to only cook them 8-9 minutes, 12 is much too long, you want to take them out when they are still somewhat soft as they will harden a bit as they cool. This way you will have a softer, chewier cookie.

Mahogany Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
Everyone at our super bowl party enjoyed these, they are very sticky but the flavor has a nice kick and they were quite easy so I will probably make them again. I marinated them overnight and then baked them for 3/4 of the time, broiling the last few which crisped them up a bit. I also boiled the marinade like others did and added a bit of orange juice (it needed some kind of citrus). Reducing the sauce and tossing it with the wings makes all the difference, otherwise they lack the kick from the flavoring.

Maple Bacon Pancake

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2007
This was delicious and so easy to do, I agree with the other reviewers, the sugar is not necessary and it should be baked a bit longer. I also used crushed Mighty Bites cereal in it in order to use it up.

Creamy Cilantro Chicken with a Kick

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
This was great, I made a few changes to suit what I had though. No peppers so I used chili pepper flakes as well as extra coconut milk and some chicken stock. I then boiled or poached the chicken in the liquid for 20 minutes (I used the breast) and broiled it in the oven for an additional 10. I reduced the sauce and added a little extra sugar. My boyfriend adored the sauce and I will definitely be making this again.

Tantalizingly Tangy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
I don't understand why everyone adored this recipe, for one it does not tell you to drain the fat OFTEN throughout the baking. I found the loaf needed the full 50 minutes and the glaze just slid off the top with the fat, maybe add the glaze in the last 5 minutes rather than the last 20. The meatloaf itself had very little flavor and I added mustard powder, basil and oregano yet it was still bland. I should have stuck to my mothers old recipe.

this is a really easy and delicious bread. I brought it to a potluck and everyone loved it. It's also a great way to use up leftover molasseses and buttermilk!

Baked Salmon with Basil and Garlic

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2006
This salmon was good but I didn't love it. the boyfriend liked it more but I found it to just taste like salmon doused in garlic, which didn't really enhance the flavor of the salmon. However it was a very simple, quick and easy dish good for a weeknight meal. However I most likely will not make it again.

Greek Saganaki

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2006
I was very excited to try this as I love saganaki and rarely get to have it as most greek restraurants dont make it. I used kasseri cheese, which by the way is the traditional cheese used and is much better for this preparation. I also splashed some cognac in the pan at the end and lit it on fire, then put it out with a lemon as others had noted. It came out great but you definetly need to eat it immediately, make sure dinner is on the table then fry this up and put it on the plate because the cheese hardens rather quickly and isnt as enjoyable. Im so glad I cna make this at home now though!

Quick Black Forest Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2006
I have made this cake multiple times as it is delicious. The only thing I would recommend is using Duncan Hines cake mix, the pillsbury with the pudding mix in it does not come out as moist or as flavorful. I also make it into a layer cake by spreading additional pie filling as well as whipped frosting between the layers. I used the "cool whip frosting" from this site and it pairs perfectly with the rich cake.
