Churros

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2005
These are splendid. I used a pastry bag but beware, the dough is hot and my bag split in the middle of squeezing them in the hot greese. An electric skillit / fryer would be best to keep a constant temp. I hand rolled some but they were not nearly as good as the ones I used with the pastry bag. I used a wilton #25 but need one a bit bigger. You must work quickly as the dough will go cement quickly. Also be sure to wash up your bowl and dough tools ASAP.

Squash and Apple Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2002
The mixture for this squash is wonderful but there is not enough of it. Also it is a bear to clean the dish you cook it in. I would make again without the apples and double the mix and coat the pan. Great flavor in the surgar mix!

Crispy Fish

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2002
THis was such crispy fish. I used half yellow cornmeal half flour and will do so next time too. Also I think next time i will use mustard powder instead of the pepper. ALSO - the next day I used the leftover mixture to make MEATBALLS for Meatball Grinders with a Yummy Sauce. Wow it was great!!! This stuff makes great meatballs. Just added a couple of eggs and the meat.

Quick and Easy Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2002
Wow..this stuff is just like Cinnabon.. it is great. Be sure to use the correct BIG pan or you will have a mess. It makes a huge amount so maybe cutting it in half so you dont have a bunch left over and can make fresh each morning would be good. IT is A MUST. Sweet, sticky and a real comfort food.

Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2002
Wow! This was really Good! It was quick and easy and my kids even loved it. Hubby and son went back for seconds and even thirds. I used a very cheap cut of pork steak and it worked great with that meat too. I also thicken the juice the meat cooked in with cornstartch and poured over the top. Yumm yummm

Yum-Yum Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2002
Well my brother and husband just loved this. My kids didn't. They are 8 and 10. It did take a bit longer to cook than expected so I would say to DRAIN VERY WELL - which I did not do. I enjoyed it. It was a quick change to plain corn.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
Wow...says it all. Amazing. Used it with North Carolina-Style Pulled Pork recipe found on this site. Wow..amazing. I tripled the recipe and the slight bit left over was a bit watery the next day so I just added another half bag of slaw mix. A superbowl hit!

Italian Style Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2002
The flavor of this is wonderful but very strong. I used italian bread crumbs and wont do that again. Also it is a very VERY wet meatloaf and takes much longer to cook than expected. DRAIN well the tomatoes and it is just wonderful. Will make this again.

Party Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2002
This was a winner all the way around. DO NOT OVER COOK - they will get very dry and they need a bit of moisture when reheated. I put them under the broiler to brown up the top and every one loved them. Great flavor and texture. Not your every day mash!

North Carolina-Style Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
oh my heavens. we made this for Super Bowl sunday and it was an incredible hit. I cooked it for 12 hours, then put it in the freezer and pulled it out for the party letting it cook in the slow cooker again for the entire day. Always on low. I will Reduce hot pepper by half, it is spicy and I will double the brown sugar next time. It was amazing with the coleslaw suggested by another reviewer. Oh I also used a pork loin and it worked great!

This took work. This took TIME! It was 114 degrees outside when we grilled the bread....It was worth it ALL! This is great bread. We are going to make a huge batch and freeze it. I put in twice the garlic it calls for.
