About this Cook
I love to cook, but now that I am married to a guy that REALLY loves to cook, I have passed that baton to him and now I focus on baking, which is really my favorite thing to do. I have two little ones and now that the older one is 3 years old she has become my kitchen helper when I bake. She insists on wearing her little apron and I'm proud to say that she can crack an egg into a bowl without losing any shell! I also have a blog at
My favorite things to cook
Pizza (simply because I have perfected my homemade crust!) and just about any kind of pastry, cookie or cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year I have a Holiday Cookie Exchange with all my friends. This has been an annual tradition since 1992 and the cookies are getting better every year (having a contest for Best Cookie helps!)
My cooking triumphs
I made a Buche de Noel a few Christmas ago (my first attempt) and it was beautiful! The meringue mushrooms really DID look just like mushrooms - I felt like such an artist :-)
My cooking tragedies
Anything that I have tried to make for the first time when I'm having guests over (WHY do I do that again and again??) and have been sorely disappointed in the results.

Vegetable Medley I
Yum! Simple to make on the stove top - I just put it under the broiler to melt the parmesan. I didn't have any tomatoes so I used a bit of spaghetti sauce to pull it all together, which worked great. Also added mushrooms.

Molten Chocolate Cakes With Sugar-Coated Raspberries
Based on the title I was expecting a liquidy chocolate filling to ooze out when we cut into them. These were just mini-souffles, which were nice but not "molten" chocolate cakes. The sugared raspberries were a hit though!

Overnight Blueberry French Toast
My 10 year old daughter made this with a little supervision. We used vienna bread (like french bread) with good results. It puffed up beautifully after we removed the foil! I would use only 8 oz of cream cheese next time and cut it into smaller cubes, maybe 1/2" instead of 1". Served the blueberry sauce on the side.
