I love to cook, but now that I am married to a guy that REALLY loves to cook, I have passed that baton to him and now I focus on baking, which is really my favorite thing to do. I have two little ones and now that the older one is 3 years old she has become my kitchen helper when I bake. Pizza (simply because I have perfected my homemade crust!) and just about any kind of pastry, cookie or cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year I have a Holiday Cookie Exchange with all my friends. This has been an annual tradition since 1992 and the cookies are getting better every year (having a contest for Best Cookie helps!)
My cooking triumphs
I made a Buche de Noel a few Christmas ago (my first attempt) and it was beautiful! The meringue mushrooms really DID look just like mushrooms - I felt like such an artist :-)
My cooking tragedies
Anything that I have tried to make for the first time when I'm having guests over (WHY do I do that again and again??) and have been sorely disappointed in the results.

French Onion Dip From Scratch
This was very good but as written the taste of mayo was too strong for our tastes. Next time I will use 1/2 the mayo and increase the sour cream accordingly.

Homesteader Cornbread
Yum! A nice, sweet cornbread. Light. I put it in my mixer and beat it for appx 5 min based on what others said.

French Onion Soup Gratinee
This was delicious! My hubby gave it 4 3/4 stars b/c I didn't have red wine and just added additional broth. I used 1/2 t ground thyme in lieu of fresh. The soup was on the sweet side (and I used a combination of red and yellow onion - no sweet onion) but I thought it was delicious, rich and warm. So glad I tried this! P.S. I just realized I forgot the salt when carmelizing the onions - maybe the lack of salt contributed to the overall sweetness? Next time I'll remember that and also use red wine.
