Butter Frosting

I had never made frosting before and wanted to make home made frosting for my daughter's birthday party. I found that you don't really need to sift the confectionery sugar. I made a batch with milk as directed above and then made another batch with half and half. The consensus around our house was both were good but we preferred the half and half version. It was a little smoother and not so sweet. I also only used 1 teaspoon of vanilla. With those little tweaks, I thought it was perfect. I have been eating left over cupcakes just so I can eat up all the frosting all week.

Taco Pie

This is a great recipe. It reminds me of a taco salad a friend makes except hot. I followed most of the directions. Cooked Pillsbury Crescent rolls at 350 for 1-13 minutes. I may do it at 375 as the package instructs next time. I used ground turkey and McCormick Taco season along with the 3/4 cup water it calls for. I probably didn't use a whole container of sour cream and may use a little less next time. I only had regular mild cheddar shredded cheese so I used that instead of the mexi-blend. I topped with a 1/4 bag of crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos. After baking I added some chopped tomatoes so I could feel like I had some veggies with dinner. I am sure if you like salsa that would be a good alternative. I do not. My kids loved it. Even the one who doesn't like sour cream. I will definitely make this again and try it with the mexi-blend cheeses next time.

Campbell's Kitchen Chicken Broccoli Divan

Simple, easy recipe. Everyone in my family liked it. I made it exactly to the recipe. I think next time, I would use 2 cans of soup. It didn't seem like enough liquid to cover the whole dish.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

This recipe was great and very simple. I am always looking for new ways to cook chicken in the crock pot. I have now tried this recipe twice with chicken and once with a 4½ lb pork shoulder. Every time I make it everyone raves about how good it taste. The only change I made is that I added a small amount of fresh garlic. I have also tried using a few different types of BBQ sauce. I have used Kraft original and Jack Daniels Hickory and Brown Sugar. Both came out great, but the Jack Daniels one was a little bit tangier. I will definitely be adding this to my family cookbook.
