Yummy Bok Choy Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2010
This salad (and dressing) were fantastic!! We really loved the bok choy! From now on, I'll be using this salad and dressing as an alternative to my regular green salads.

Basil Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2010
A good basic recipe for grilling shrimp, but no Wow Factor. I'll keep it handy for the future, though.

Salmon with Brown Sugar and Bourbon Glaze

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
This recipe is fantastic as-is! I've made it several times with great results, and it's now a favorite of ours. For variation, try using Amaretto (like Disaronno) instead of the bourbon - it's yummy served on a spring mix salad with pecans.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
I did as other reviewers noted and cut the sugar back to 2 cups. This was a fabulous, chocolately recipe! It was the perfect amount of fudgey; I was happy that it didn't puff up to cake style brownies!!

Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2008
This recipe was hands down, the best concoction I've ever brought to an event. I say this for two reasons; one, everyone at the brunch I was at commented on how great it tasted (I eased dropped of course); two, everyone was hammered but giddy! The only thing that I really did somewhat different...add strawberries with the other fruit. Also, most important of all is be sure to let the fruit marinate overnight (8hrs) and don't add any soda to it, yet). I waited until I arrived at the brunch and then added 7-up to it. This way, it had a little bubble flavor to it and the soda wasn’t flat sitting in the fridge overnight! The apricot brandy was good additive! 7 gallons of this stuff makes for some really good stories out of people you’ve never met!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
This cornbread is wonderfully moist, not-too-sweet, and turns out perfect every time! It's the only recipe we'll ever use!

Spiced Bacon Twists

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
Wow. This recipe was fantastic! And I overheard everyone at our brunch commenting on the "amazing bacon." :) The only change was to 1/2 the amount of dry mustard powder; this gave it a hint of mustard without overpowering the other flavors. We'll definitely be making this for other get-togethers in the future! ----- Update: The leftover rub from this recipe is out-of-this-world on salmon. Just rub onto salmon filets and then grill til done. It's our new favorite way to eat salmon!

Blue Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
I'm not a fan of cranberry anything at Thanksgiving, so I opted to make this one year as a variation. I got rave reviews, so now I make it every Thanksgiving.

Scott Ure's Clams And Garlic

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
What a deliciously simple recipe! I love throwing this together as either a side for steak or as an entree on its own. For the wine, I use either Pinot Grigio or Chenin Blanc. And this recipe is just as tastey with mussels or a combo of both clams and mussels.

No Name Orange Roughy

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
Fabulous recipe! I didn't have them on hand, so I skipped the green onions and olives. And I added 4 cloves garlic, because we are such garlic fans. Other than that, I followed the recipe directly. This recipe turns out amazing every time!

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
I did as other reviewers noted and this recipe turned out wonderfully! (I used my stand mixer instead of a bread machine.) I was on a hunt for a great cinnamon roll recipe for years and this one finally ended it! Thanks! ** Notes from other reviewers that I followed: Use a whole box of pudding mix. Combine water, milk, & butter and heat till butter is melted. Add egg. Meanwhile, combine dry ingredients, reserving 1/2 cup flour for kneading. Add liquids to dry ingredients. Turn onto floured surface & knead in remaining 1/2 cup flour. Put in greased bowl & let rise about 45 minutes. Then continue with recipe instructions. Use frosting from Clone of a Cinnabon recipe instead.

Grandmother's Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2004
I seem to have a million friends who love Oatmeal Raisin cookies, so I decided to try this recipe out on them. They all loved it!! Be aware, this recipe looks really dry as you mix in the oatmeal, but leave it alone - it will turn into a really nice dough. I've swapped out the raisins for cinnamon chips and roasted pecans, and it turns out just as yummy.

Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2004
Yum! This is exactly what I was looking for! I made it for a spinach and dark leaf lettuce salad with garlic herb feta and carmelized almonds. My only modification to the recipe was to use 1/2 the sugar called for.

Asian Beef Skewers

I LOVED this recipe! The marinade is so quick to throw together and the flavor is fantastic. This is exactly the recipe I was looking for! (Note: I left out the green onions and the flavor was still perfect.)

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2003
This is the perfect buttercream frosting recipe! The consistency and FLAVOR were exactly what I was looking for. It's easy to mix up and easy to work with on cakes. I took the advice of using 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening, and it was delicious! This is now my favorite frosting recipe!

African Curry

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2002
I think the problem people had with this recipe turning out bland may have been due to the curry they used. I tried a 'regular' curry from a grocery store and got bland results. I bought curry from an Indian foods store and it is much stronger. (I've been told that there are many different varieties of curry.) I'll make this recipe with the Indian curry next time. Oh, and I used lowfat coconut milk and it tasted great!
