About this Cook
I'm a SAHM to a boy and a girl, I love cooking good food, which unfortunately isn't always healthy. But I'm in the process of converting all my recipes to have calorie counts so when I am eating healthy, I can eat the foods I like. I'm also challenging myself to cook most things from scratch, and figuring out the costs for my recipes too, since we have made a decision to live within our means. Its actually fun to try and make all those things we'd typically crave for fast food.
My favorite things to cook
Baked goods, special occasion stuff, foods that everyone loves.
My cooking triumphs
Mastering cuts of meat without overcooking. Regularly making homemade bread, instead of buying it. Making cinnamon rolls better than my husband's beloved grandmother. Making lasagna that my husband loves. Having an apple pie that my husband loves.
My cooking tragedies
Trying to make a mile high apple pie - the apples took forever to cook, so we ate it while it was kinda still crisp inside.

Dry Rub for Ribs
This is good enough to put on everything. It really is.

French Toast II
I accidently doubled the brown sugar, and as I taste tested it before feeding the kids, found myself having a few too many pieces. VERY RECOMMENDED! And they loved it too! Not topping needed, great finger food with protein! I also used whole wheat bread and 2% milk and added the cinnamon to the eggs not to the top.
