About this Cook
I'm a hospice nurse and I cook to relax. I also get a major ego boost from having people enjoy things I have prepared.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, and pies have got to be my all time favorite. Once I discovered lard crusts I've never looked back.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 16 I baked a 7 layer cake for my birthday party. It was spectacular!
My cooking tragedies
When I was first learning to cook I used cornMEAL instead of cornSTARCH in a strawberry pie. Gritty, runny mess!

Sweet Washington Cherry Pie
This was an awesome pie, I used 2 bags of frozen dark sweet cherries (defrosted) and just drained the juice into a measuring cup and bulked it up with cranberry juice(I did not have cherry juice, and it only needed a little bit). I brushed the top crust with some beaten egg and sprinkled it with sugar too. Everybody raved about this pie! It was so pretty, we took a picture of it.
