Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
This is a great recipe. I did it on high for 2 hours and then on low for another four hours or so. I, too, thickened it with flour before serving. The sugar, I think, is just right. You do need to add salt, though. It is a great slow cooker recipe--and there are precious few of those, in my opinion! Thanks for this recipe.

Hamburger Jazz

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I rated this with 5 stars for speed and appeal to the whole family. The cheese is what makes it, according to my husband who enjoyed this dish even though he isn't a fan of rice. I, too, cooked the rice separately but other wise changed nothing. My only criticism is the taste of canned soup, so I'd like to try it with the mushroom soup recipe on this site that another reviewer suggested. (Of course, that would affect one of the most attractive features of this recipe: the speed.) I filed this under Quick and Easy recipes that I'll go to time and time again, I'm sure. Thanks for such a good recipe.

Homemade Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
I was looking for a substitute for the grocery store granola bars, and this one is better in every way! Just sweet enough and very chewy. I didn't have any butter, so I used oil instead, and I've made several batches of them. I never make them without doubling the batch and baking them in a 9 x 13 pan. No need to try any other recipe!

Frozen Cranberry Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
I have made this salad for Thanksgiving for years, and I love it. I double the recipe and put it in a 9 x 13 glass pan and then cut it into squares to serve. We like it best after it has thawed for a half hour or 45 minutes. Actually, I love to eat it after the whole dinner is done, and it has completely thawed! You can't please everyone with every recipe, but I promise you that you will please mostly everyone with this salad. And you can't beat a good do-ahead salad for Thanksgiving!

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
This is a fabulous recipe. I'm a fan of brining the turkey first, but if you do that, eliminate the salt from the recipe. I also butterflied the turkey, so I could bake it at 425 for only one hour. It was so moist and flavorful. My family raved about it and asked if we had leftovers for tomorrow! Thanks for my new Thanksgiving turkey recipe!

Macadamia Nut Crusted Tilapia

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
I've made countless recipes from this site, but this is the first time I have reviewed a recipe. I don't really care for fish much, but I've decided to eat it for my health. Looking for a recipe with ingredients I had on hand, I found this one. I can't get over how good it was. I absolutely loved it! To save money, I only used half of the macadamia nut mixture, but it would have been wonderful with the whole amount. I covered the fish with tin foil and put the fish in a 400 degree oven for 7 minutes. Then I put the paste on the fish and returned it to the oven (w/o the foil) for another 7 minutes. Don't overcook! Trust me, you will love this recipe. I can't wait to make it for my friends! Thanks so much for this recipe!!!
