Pumpkin Bars III

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
Great! So happy to find a recipe with much less oil. Actually, I didn't even have 1/2 c. oil (I used 1/3 c. and just added a little bit more pumpkin). Just a teensy weensy spongy, but covered in cream cheese frosting, DELISH! These were thinner than I like, so maybe I'd use a 9x9 pan. Didn't use raisins or maple glaze.

Raspberry Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
My muffins are flat! (I probably just overmixed the batter.) My muffins turned out soft, not dry. :) I used frozen raspberries. I can't wait to try these with dark chocolate chips!

Chicken Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
This is a keeper and our new comfort food recipe Sunday dish. Like most I add just a little thyme (adds so much to the pot pie). Seasoning the chicken adds tons of flavor too. Try Grill Mates montreal chicken or Mrs. Dash. And I use 1 bag of California blend frozen veggies, thawed. Sometimes 1 can, sometimes 2 of cream chicken soup. I bet cream/celery would be good! Love how easy and delicious this is! Makes me feel like Mrs. Betty Crocker!

KELLOGG'S* RICE KRISPIES* Squares Original Recipe

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2008
The vanilla is the key ingredient to the BEST marshmallow treats! These are much better than the plain original (no vanilla) recipe, trust me.

Egg Salad III

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
I grew up on this recipe minus the paprika and pepper. The more olives the better! I don't even like green olives! Just put a glob of mayo to your preferred creaminess in with the chopped eggs, add chopped olives, start with a little and add to taste. For even more flavor add a little of the olive juice! No salt needed!! I just wish it was filling.

Orange Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
The orange flavor is very subtle. Almost an aftertaste. Maybe because I subbed 2 cups of the AP flour with whole wheat? The topping is a must. I almost left it off b/c I do not like blueberry and cinnamon together.

Curried Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
Next time I will sub the apples with pineapple. Used gala, so don't know if a different apple would have been more flavorful. Gala was flavorless! I think pineapple would have hit the spot! Definitely enough curry. Smells so good!!

Cinnamon Bread Delight

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2007
I only give it 4 b/c I would like it to be more cinnamony! So next time I will be sure to double the cinnamony. I was also concerned this would be like Amish Friendship bread with the pudding, but nope! :)

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2004
The perfect muffin. The texture is perfect. I used frozen blueberries and it didn't turn the muffins blue. They looked picture perfect. But, somehow, the batter only made 7 for me. Must be the size of my muffin cups. I'm going to add a little more berries next time.

Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie

My new favorite chocolate chip cookie! LOVE them! Have to eat them within 3 days, though b/c the texture changes after that. I don't store cookies in the fridge, maybe I will this time.

Mocha Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: May 20, 2003
Could not taste the coffee at all. Will add more next time. Taste just like boring banana bread that doesn't have spices, smells just like it too! But you gotta use the BEST chocolate chips with this recipe! (I used Guittard). Who doesn't love chocolate with banana?? I recommend drizzling melted chocolate on these--heck, smother them with it!!!

Honey Wheat Cookies

Reviewed: May 20, 2003
My son loves these. I let him eat these for breakfast. My dad loves these. (He's diabetic). My friend who loves peanut butter loves these and asked for the recipe right away! I did add 1/2 c. oatmeal for the consistency and 1 banana for the yum factor. You cannot tell they're sugar free. You can't even really tell they're health-nut cookies b/c of the strong peanut butter taste/smell.

Caramel Nougat Bar Cake

Reviewed: May 20, 2003
I used carmel topping as everyone seemed to suggest. I also used D Hines cake mix. If I recall correctly, there's already pudding in the mix. Well, my cake didn't fall apart. It held very well. Nice form. Except for the missing top!!!! I don't think I'd use the topping again. It all sank to the bottom of the pan (top of the cake). Maybe you have to use the tiniest amount of topping. But, then what's the point? I'm wondering if maybe cutting the carmels into tiny pieces and laying them on top of the batter before you put it in the oven. Or not add any carmel to the cake mix and just use carmel frosting instead of chocolate frosting, because you're adding chocolate pudding to the frosting anyways. I LOVE the frosting, and I am not a frosting person. But I'm going to try carmel frosting instead next time.

Raspberry Cup Cakes

Very sweet. My guests loved these. I had to use a different crust and it still worked. I had extra filling leftover, so I poured it in a chocolate cookie pie crust and froze it for a future occasion.

Buttermilk Chocolate Cake with Fudge Icing

Reviewed: May 12, 2003
Very easy to make. Extremely moist and the icing recipe offered is perfect for it. I've made it twice. I've noticed it's one of those cakes that gets better over the days. I don't know why. It gets moister and richer. I think it is the perfect amount of chocolate flavor, especially with the icing. The icing never gets spreadable like frosting, though. Just pour it on the cake. It's icing, not frosting.

Strawberry, Kiwi, and Spinach Salad

I'm so happy I came across this recipe again. I had made a very similar variation 2 years ago. I love it!! It's so simple and tasty. I use almonds instead of walnuts. And substitute the oil with extra virgin olive oil.

Molasses Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2003
Very strong molasses flavor and I only used half a cup as suggested by another reviewer. I was really excited about a banana bread recipe with no sugar. But it was a tad let down. I won't make it again.

Easy Chocolate Banana Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2002
Made this cake for bday party. The adults ranted and raved over it! One person said it was the best cake they ever had. Even the ones who passed on it, HAD to try it b/c of all the raving over it. Not a single kid disliked it (it's cake, for crying out loud). I made it into a 2 layer. I should have doubled the recipe then. I frosted it with whipped vanilla. The frosting was overwhelming. From my experience, I would definitely follow Harriet's recommendation about sprinkling it with powdered sugar. And leaving it as a sheet cake. It's the perfect amount of cocoa and the chips add a nice surprise for a cake. I meant to add an extra half of a banana, but forgot. I recommend more banana in the recipe. It IS a very yummy cake! Thanks for submitting it. It made for a memorable cake.
