Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
OH MY GOSH!!! This is one of the best recipes I have made off this site. I made the following modifications: I cooked 3 sweet italian sausage links out of their casings. I used bertolli sauce (one vodka sauce one tomatoe basil), and I added 4 ounce of softened cream cheese to the sour cream mix. I did as others suggested and put some sauce on the bottom of the pan, then I layered as the reciped stated.

Almond-Crusted Halibut Crystal Symphony

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
This was FANTASTIC. I love halibut but NEVER cook it at home because I do not like the fish smell. This recipe has so many wonderful flavors that the aromatics of it cooking far overpowered any fish smell. I followed the recipe exactly except I cooked half the portion of fish as I did not want left overs. The sauce is decadent, the fish was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend said this was the best home cooked meal he ever had and that it was a gourmet meal. VERY VERY good. Next time I might try basil instead of thyme as I love basil.

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
SO EASY, and very tasty. I took the advice of another reviewer and shaved the chocolate with a vegetable peeler. Everyone loved this especially me!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
This was great!! I took the advice of another reviewer and doubled the recipe and I used fresh ginger (about 1 tablespoon for a double recipe). Also I used 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. I served this over rice and with a side of broccoli. Oh yeah I cooked it at 400 degrees in my convection oven for 30 minutes covered with foil, then turned and cooked for 15 minuted uncovered. Chicken was incredibly tender.

Chicken Garlic Pizza

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2007
This was pretty good, I am giving it a 3 cause I made a lot of revisions. First I used Jay's Signature pizza crust. I have NEVER used yeast before and was rather intimidated by it; however, it was really quite easy. OK, I used a skinless boneless chicken thigh, and satueed it in olive oil and garlic. Also, I mixed equal amount non fat cream cheese with the ricotta cheese. Also, I used fresh basil in the butter mix, and topped with chopped fresh basil along with the cilantro. Final product was pretty good.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2007
I added about a tablespoon of fresh rosemary to this, and it was AWESOME. Per other reviewers I rolled it out using cornmeal to give it more of a resteraunt taste. Additional Note - I have now made this two times in one week, that should give you an idea of how good it is. I am using a Publix Brand Spaghettis sauce called Parmesean and Romano to make pepperoni pizza with fresh mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil. Fantastic!!!

Ranch Bean Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2007
This was OK, but too salty. I agree with others that you should not use the whole seasoning packet. Also, if I made this again I would serve it with chips that do not have too much salt on them.

Easy Cajun Jambalaya

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
This is really good, and is truely a one dish recipe which is fantastic. The reason for only four stars is that I feel like it is missing something, but I am not sure what. I was thinking about a can of rotel tomatoes and chilis next time. I will absolutely make this again; however, it will have some slight modifications. Oh yeah, I added extra worchestershire sauce, and doubled the cayanne as I like it spicy.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: May 30, 2007
We actually really did not like this recipe. As written it had very little flavor, even after I added garlic to it. If I were to ever make this again or something similar it would need to have MUCH more flavor to the base. For starters I recomend boiling the chicken with a bay leaf, garlic, and onion powder. For the base I would possibly add in some chicken gravy mixture, and fresh herbs like taragon, and basil.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: May 26, 2007
I loved this salad, it is such a nice change. I used the advice of others and added walnuts, feta cheese, and red opnion rings. I also took the advice of others on the dressing and used balsalmic vinegar (I love it), and chose to omit the sesame seeds, and poppy seeds as I did not have any. The dressing was a bit too granular for me so next time I will use less sugar. This is a great summer recipe - a wonderful change from a normal salad.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: May 25, 2007
The only reason I am giving this four stars is because I am not a fish fan, and it did not make me LOVE the fish, but it was very tasty. And extremely easy to make.

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

Reviewed: May 25, 2007
This is very easy to make, and is very pretty in the end. I think I might use mushrooms instead of broccoli next time, and I omitted the red pepper as we are not pepper fans n this house.

Strawberry Chocolate Mousse Cake

Reviewed: May 25, 2007
This is AMAZING. Very very easy, maybe 20 minutes MAX. I agree with other reviewers you do not have to have 2 pints of strawberries. I too used oreo cookies with out the filling for the crust. This will absolutely be a favorite recipe of mine from now on.

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: May 4, 2007
A friend of mine made this for me, and I thought gross based on the description. However, this is AMAZING. I have made it three times since then. The only thing I do differently is add two containers of frozen strawberries, as I like a lot of them.

Chicken Florentine Casserole

made this using other suggestions and added pasta. I also used two cans of cream of mushroom soup to ensure I had enough sauce. I cut the chicken into bite size pieces, and satueed theme in olive oil, garlic, and salt and pepper. One last thing I used frozen spinach.

Slow Cooker Sweet and Tangy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2005
Chicken was dry, and as other stated the sauce did not have a very good flavor. I added brown sugar in an effort to save it; however, it is not something I will make again. Thanks anyways.

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2003
This was horrible, I went on one person's review who stated that if you do not like Antipasto salad you will like this, and I have to tell you that I like antipasto salad, and this was horrible. I made it for a baby shower and was so ashamed that I left it in the fridge. It is fairly costly to make for a less than desirable result. Sorry but I would not suggest it.

Easy Never Forgotten Guacamole

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2003
This is great, I added Cayenne pepper and Pace Chunky Hot Salsa. In addition I added fresh yellow onion, about 1/4 cup, and garnished with green onion. Great with tacos. The only thing that would have made this better would have been riper avacodos, it is not avacodo season in Tennessee right now; however, I do not think that it ever is.
