Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
All I can say is my family (i.e. parents, aunts, siblings, etc.) all expect me to make these for breakfast when I come to visit. OH MY GOSH are they FABULOUS. I actually found the recipe on kingarthurflour.com who referenced this site. They're great to make the night before and pop right in the over in morning for that fresh cinnabon smell and taste. Whoever you are reading this you must MAKE THEM RIGHT NOW!!! DON'T HESITATE!! You will not regret it and your family, friends or neighbors will thank you!! :-)

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
Amazing! Me and my family love soup so I am always looking for a new recipe to try out. This was delicious! It was the perfect main course dish on a cold winter night. I made homemade bread bowls and served the soup in the bread bowls with freshly grated cheddar cheese on top and it was definitely a crowd pleaser!! A delicious comfort food that is on my recurring menu!

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
This was AMAZING! From the pictures, it didn't look too appetizing so I was hesitant to make it. But I made it anyway and I am so glad I did. My husband, who is probably like many other husbands out there, a skeptic when it comes to new and strange foods, but when this soup is made correctly (i.e. follow the directions) he RAVED over it!! The only thing that came to mind was that it tasted like beef stew except instead of beef broth you have thick creamy peas. Definitely give this one a try, it's worth it!!!

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
This was a good base recipe. Very creamy and rich. However, I didn't give it 5 stars because there wasn't much flavor besides the tuna, cheese and peas. I would prefer a pinch more salt, pepper and some garlic or onion. I will adjust to my liking next time. But again, very good base recipe. Will definitely use again!

Extreme Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
Simply delicious! This chocolate cake was so easy to make and held up so well! This icing is fabulous and very rich. My family and I LOVED this cake! I didn't split the two cakes in half to make four. I just made it a two layer cake and halved the icing (also very easy to do). By only making half the icing I had just enough to coat the center and the entire exterior of the cake with a thick coating of icing and no left overs. I read other people saying that the recipe makes a lot of icing and they had so much left over so I just cut all the ingredients in half and it was perfect!! ENJOY!!

Turkey Bean Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2012
I love making this chilli. I don't use any other recipe EVER! My husband loves it, my 2 year loves it, my entire family when they come to visit love it! I use a little less than 2 lbs turkey to cut back on the fat and use whatever beans I have on hand. I throw in some fresh mushrooms and leave out the jalepenos because it would be too spicy for my toddler. So I just add some extra bell pepper. I finely chop the onion and make sure they're translucent before adding the rest of the ingredients. I never use a dutch over because I don't own one and it comes out just fine in a large pot. I use 1 28oz can of tomato sauce and a 14oz can of diced tomatoes and it gives it just the right consistency i'm looking for. PERFECT! It's so easy to alter to your liking. Add or take away whatever you like or dislike. But the seasoning is spot on!

Stuffed Peppers with Turkey and Vegetables

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
WOW WOW WOW!!! I had to get on this site and make sure this recipe got a rating it deserved! I made this meal for a group of 10 people. For looks I used yellow and orange peppers as the "bowl". I browned my turkey (3 pounds for 12 peppers) with salt pepper and garlic powder until it wasn't pink. I then put that in a bowl and added the oil and all the veggies to the pot. I added green and red peppers to this mixture for looks! I also added salt pepper, a few crushed red peppers and garlic powder again. I let this cook until they were very soft and almost created their own broth. I added just a small amount of veggie pasta sauce to that and then put the meat back in. Once everything was stirred thoroughly, I packed the mixture into the pepper shells. I sprinkled just a little sharp cheddar cheese on top and put them back in the oven for 10 -15 minutes until the cheese was bubbly. This recipe was such a BIG hit. It was DELICIOUS! So much flavor and color. Such a wonderful recipe, everyone raved about it! Will DEFINITELY make this one again!!!!

Easy Pizza Sauce I

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2012
Bravo! Very good sauce! I like many others cut the water in half to 3/4 cup but I kept the oil amount the same and added a tablespoon of sugar. This turned out perfect and has helped make many delicious pizzas in my household!

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2012
Delicious french toast! I make homemade brioche a few days ahead when I know I will be making this. I also use a tad bit more vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sometimes I use pumpkin pie spice and it tastes oh so good!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
Ok this recipe is soooo good that I have made it so many times that i've lost track! I love to decorate cookies and was on the prowl for an improved recipe and came across this one. I gave it a try and haven't looked back. I do add a little more vanilla than what is called for, but that is it! This dough holds up very well after chilling for ATLEAST an hour. I would recommend this recipe to any one in a heart beat! ENJOY!!!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
Ok first let me say how much I hate carrot cake, but my family insisted I find and bake them a delicious carrot cake for a reunion so after lots of researching I found this recipe. I still don't like carrot cake but this recipe was so good that not only did my family rave about it, but I actually enjoyed it myself! Very moist and tasty. And then I topped it off with cream cheese frosting and it just made you want to melt inside! Very good. I followed the recipe exact and it turned out wonderfully.

Peanut Butter Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
If there were 10 stars I would rate this recipe that! This is such a GREAT tasting cake...from the icing to the cake itself. It's so rich in taste you only need a small piece to satisfy your craving! I have made this cake so many times and it always comes out awesome. I even use the peanut butter frosting on other cakes, like my favorite chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting...well except this is now my go to frosting! :-) So good. I didn't change anything to this recipe. Just make it how it says and you will have a decadent cake that everyone will LOVE!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
This cornbread was so tasty! It makes a good sized pan of bread too, so you won't have to worry about not having enough! Very easy to follow. I didn't change a thing. My husband even complimented me on it and he normally despises cornbread! That's how I knew this was a keeper. It's a good go to recipe!

Broccoli and Cheddar Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
Delicious soup! I added potatoes to mine, because that is just what i'm used to, but this recipe is very good and spot on with texture and the amount of cheese you need. You can add more broccoli too. I like a "loaded" soup with tons of broccoli and potatoes so that's just what I did and there were no complaints in my house!

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
So delicious! I use what ever beer I have on hand and you really do get some of the beer's flavor in the bread! Sometimes I use more of a fruity beer or darker thicker beer and it always turns out great! Great crust too! I put some butter on it with some garlic seasoning and it was AWESOME! Very quick and easy bread to make for any occasion!

Beef Stroganoff III

This was a good base recipe. I found it needed a little more seasoning and the sauce needed to be a little thicker. My family liked it overall and it will be a good go to dish for a weeknight dinner.

Irish Potato Candy

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
This recipe was what I was looking for! I've made these candies since I was in the second grade and now being a grown adult I had misplaced it during a move, so I searched on other websites and including this one and found that this recipe came the closest to what I lost. I added a little more coconut. Also for those of you that say it's too messy or sticky to roll...well it is! And that's how it's supposed to be. Just use your palms, roll quickly and then plop about three or four in a bowl of cinnamon and swirl them around until coated. Then use your clean fingers to pick them up and put them on a try to be refrigerated. And I also needed a lot more cinnamon than what was recommended. Enjoy!
