Delicious Black Bean Burritos

Quick, easy and delicious! I added a can of Rotel, a can of corn and a sprinkle of chili powder. My meat eating husband and children ate without complaints.

Great cake. I've made many times to rave reviews. My young son even asks me to make this for his birthday.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2004
Made this turkey today for my family Thanksgiving. I only made an 11 pound turkey - 2 hours at 350 (couldn't believe how quickly it was done!) - and it was tender and flavorful. Didn't even use the wine, only chicken broth in the bottom of the pan. I think that brining always makes a huge difference. Probably the juciest turkey breast I have ever had.

Green Beans with Herb Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2004
Delicious! I like green beans, but they are a little boring. The dressing gives a great flavor. My husband doesn't really like any vegetables, and he had two helpings. I chopped a tomato to add before serving. Yum.

Mandarin Almond Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2003
Very good salad. The almonds really add to the taste - don't leave them out. I used a bag of mixed lettuce because that is what I had. I also left the dressing off so we could put on the amount each of us wanted. Would definitely make again.

Banana Bread VIII

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2003
I never knew you could make a quick bread without eggs. I was skeptical so I had to try. It was delicious. I used applesauce instead of shortening and replaced 1/2 c. of the white flour with whole wheat flour. I also add 1/2 cup milk since I only had 2 bananas. This will go in my regular rotation.

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2003
Great hearty soup. I do make modifications depending upon what is in my fridge. I never add celery - do not like. I usually add potatos, corn, or squash. Also a bit of worcheshire. I always add extra broth since the barley seems to soak it up. My very pickey toddler even eats it.

Creamy Italian Dressing I

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2003
I will never buy bottled dressing again! This was my first try at dressing - and what a difference. I tastes even better after a day in the fridge. My husband was dipping his bread in it and eating - and he is picky!

Focaccia Bread

This was my first try at making bread. To my surprise, it was much easier than I thought. I followed the recipe exactly - next time I would increase the herbs. I would have like more flavor.

Five plus stars!! I made 10 lbs for company and every bit was gone. One guest, who is not much of a rib person said I outdid myself! I made a home made bbq sauce from it site and they were wonderful. Try this one!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Great scone. I divided the batch into thirds - put dried cherries in one, raisins and walnuts in another, and lemon zest and poppy seeds in the third (my favorite). So many options to try!

Hershey's® White Chocolate Cinnamon Scones

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2003
I'm not sure what I did wrong, but the texture of these turned out like chocolate chip cookies. They were very good though. Just not a scone texture. I would like to try again - see if I get a scone texture, if not I will make cookies out of them.

Asparagus Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2003
I am not a quiche person, but this was quite good. I had a brunch for Father's Day - made it two days before, put in the fridge, then pulled out an hour before serving to bring to room temp. Everyone enjoyed. I had the leftovers for dinner the next night - I would make again.

Lime Chicken Picante

Very tender and tasty. I have made this twice recently. It has gone over quite well - even with my 8 year old daughter. I serve it with home made quacamole - I love the chicken with it. I make an extra batch of the marinade to pour over the cooked chicken.

Frijoles II

Reviewed: May 5, 2003
I forgot to buy dry beans at the store, so I experimented with canned pinto beans. I used two cans of beans, added the rest of the ingredients and simmered on my stove top for about an hour. I mashed as normal, and the flavor was great. I also forgot to add the sugar. I will try with the dry beans, but for a quick version it was good.

Apple Banana Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2003
These are much more like muffins and the are absolutely delicious! I made some changes - I didn't have any buttermilk so just omitted totally, used 1 c. white and 1 c. whole wheat flour, subsituted the shortening with applesauce, and used 4 bananas (they were going bad). I also used a strusel topping per other reviews. It makes a lot and even after 5 days they were still moist! I will try freezing some next time - will make again soon - as I have some bananas getting over ripe.

Apple Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2003
This was only OK - my 2 year old ate some - I threw the rest away. Maybe I'm just used to the fruit dip with marshmallow creme and cream cheese. I will go back to my old standby. Sorry.
