Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
This was pretty good. I thought it needed a little bit of salt, but it was still good overall. I have few recipes I make "by the book", so of course I added my touch to it and added 2 garlic cloves, 1/4 cup chopped onion and 1 tablespoon fresh thyme & parsley to the butter/oil before I added the chicken. It turned out yummy!

Polvorones de Canele (Cinnamon Cookies)

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2005
Yummy! These cookies were good. I had been looking for a recipe similar to this one. I substituted Anise Seed Extract instead of the vanilla ~ since the cookie I was looking for had Anise Extract in it. I am happy I tried this because they came out perfect. Also I followed another reviewers suggestion and added a full teaspoon vs. the 1/2 tsp. it calls for in the recipe. Just as another reviewer stated, these cookies are meant to be dry. Polvo means dust.

Hershey's ® 'Perfectly Chocolate' Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2005
Man, this cake was awesome!!! I also used coffee instead of just hot water. It gave it a little extra I think. Everyone loved it. I wrapped the left overs in plastic wrap and it stayed sooooo moist! Yummy :o)

Creamy Caramel Flan

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2005
My aunt (who by the way is Mexican :o)), has been making the same recipe for many, many years. It is a family staple at all of our gatherings. Infact if she shows up with out it, we all revolt! LOL Anyway, the only difference in hers is that she puts all the ingredients in the blender and puts it on high for about 30 seconds or until well blended. Less clean up and quick too.

Green Bean Casserole I

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
Can't go wrong with a Classic! I don't like my casserole to be so juicy so I usually add three cans instead of 2 & a tad bit more salt. We love it! Try this with the Cheddar Cheese French Fried Onions, it's awesome!

Awesome Broccoli-Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
I made this a few times long ago and hadn't added it to my Recipe Box, only made it using a printed paper, which I lost. The family has been wanting this for a while now, so finally I made the time to look through all of the Brocolli Caseroles on here to find it. I'm glad I did! I just don't understand why so many people gave this recipe 1, 2 & 3 stars! This tastes awesome. I do make two changes: 1. like a lot of the other reviewers, I mix 1/2 cup mayo & 1/2 cup sour cream in place of the full cup of mayo but that is only because my husband HATES mayo so I have to do that to all of our mayo recipes; & 2. I add about 1 cup of cheese more. Thanks for such an awesome recipe Stacey! Everyone in my family from a one year old to - well lets just say someone in their 30's - loves this!

Cranberry Sauce II

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
I've been using this recipe for years. It's quick and simple and I don't understand why more people don't make homemade cranberry sauce. Stay away from the can-berry sauce people! :o)

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2005
It's okay I guess. I thought it was missing something. Not sure what. I think I should have read some reviews before I made it.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2005
Man this was soooooooo good! My husband and I enjoyed it so much. I made two changes: 1. I substituted half of the mayo with low fat sour cream & 2. I didn't have celery salt so I sprinkled in some celery seed instead. Can't wait to make it for the kiddos, I know they will love it cause it tastes nothing like fish! Don't be afraid to try it.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2005
I made these cookies for a get together I had and got several compliments. I used the caramel/milk chocolate swirl chips, which I think made the cookies a little on the sweet side, but no one complained about them being too sweet. I followed the recipe to a T other than that. I will definately be replacing my old chocolate chip cookie recipe with this one. Thank you Dora! **Update** I made one slight change to this cookie recipe, when disolving the baking soda in hot water, i also add 1 tsp. instant espresso granules to the water. They taste a lot richer! Also I have found that the best chocolate chips to use are the Gitard Brand, pricey but definately worth it!!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2005
These cookies were pretty good. I took the advice of another reviewer & substituted 1/2 cup golden brown sugar and instead of the white sugar I added 1/2 Splenda for Baking. I also used Reses Peanut Butter Chips instead of chocolate chips. They came out very cakey, but good still.

Grilled Portobello Mushrooms

LOVE THEM! Our kids didn't care for them, but that's cause they don't like "giant mushrooms" so hubby and I had them and love them!

Best Burger Ever

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
These burgers were pretty good. I think they needed salt though. I would definately make these again. I was a little leary of the oats but all in all they turned out good. I stuffed them with cheese before I flattened them.

French Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2004
This is a WONDERFUL recipe!!! It's great for those that don't like the traditional buttercream frosting due to it being too sweet. This is sweet but it's not over-indulgingly (sp?) sweet. Those that are complaining about the shortening taste, you should try using butterflavored shortening. That is what I used and I thought it was perfect. I used it to frost a 9" two layer cake and had plenty left over. Try it, you won't be dissappointed!

Oven Roasted Potatoes

This is my absolute favorite way to make potatoes, except I make them with red potatoes and fresh herbs instead. Sprinkle Parmesan Cheese over them! You will love these taters, I promise!

Herald's Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2004
I thought this was a great recipe for when you are in a hurry. I didn't add the tomatoes because my husband doesn't like them. I also didn't add the oregano for fear that it would make it taste too much like meatloaf with cheese. It turned out great! I wish I would have made more. Definately a keeper!!!

Tomato Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2004
This was an awesome recipe. I didn't think it would go over too well with my husband who is absolutely sick of pasta, but he LOVED it! I added 1/4 cup more heavy cream and 1/8 cup more vodka because we like saucy pasta. In addition, I always make pasta with garlic, weather it calls for it or not, so I added one clove of minced garlic to this recipe, as well as doubled the parmesan cheese (you can never have too much cheese!). I am definately making this dish again. Thanks Denise for the recipe.

Three Cheese Manicotti

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2004
I doubled the ricotta, added one more tablespoon of sour cream, 2 tablespoons fresh basil, 1 tablespoon fresh thyme and one garlic clove. This was a deliciuos dish! Everyone in our family enoyed it. They are very filling and we ended up with left overs, but who wouldn't want left over manicotti?! Also, for those that thought the filling of these was time consuming, I used the Pampered Chef Easy Accent Decorator with the biggest flower tip and they not only were quick to fill but looked "pretty" once they were filled.

Garlic Salmon

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2004
This was a very delicious recipe. I also basted my salmon with herb flavored butter and skipped the lemon on a few of them, for variety. My 6 year old couldn't stop eatting cause he kept asking for more "chicken".
