Jalapeno Pepper Appetizers

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2007
I just went to a Babyshower a few weeks ago where they served these. OMG, they were sooo delicious!!! The gal that made them thought she picked the wrong thing to make because she thought people wouldn't care for spicy foods...they were a hit! Everyone raved about them. I can't wait to make them!!!

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2007
This was okay. I think it needed a little something but it was still good. To be fair though, I did make it with ground turkey [health reasons], so that probably took away from the awesome beef flavor. The whole family liked it just fine. I would probably make it again.

Grocery Store Frosting

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2007
I really, really liked this frosting. It was really easy to make and it turned out great. I added more shortening because I thought it was rather sweet at first, but I'm not sure how much shortening I added [sorry], cause I just kept adding it until it wasn't super sweet anymore.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2007
Most definately a 5 star recipe. I'm not into Mac N Cheese much, but this recipe is good. I had to make some modifications, for instance, I only had about half the amount of medium cheddar so I added mild cheddar. I also mixed in about 1/4 cup of cream style corn (I scaled the recipe down to 3 people). I didn't add any salt because I believe the salt from the bread crumbs & butter was pleanty. Plus I salted the pasta. It turned out good and I will definately make it for dinner one of these days. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
This was muy first time making Fondant, and I'm not sure if it was me, or what, but this didn't turn out very well. It was an absolute mess. No matter what I did (refrigerated it, added more powdered sugar, etc.), the fondant still fell part every time I layed it on the cake. I too found that it was very greasy looking...and when I served it for the party, my family was joking around that it reminded them of tile grout or tar or something! LOL I will probably not make it again, since no one ate it.

Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
This is a very good tasting frosting. I was looking for Cream Cheese or Cheesecake Filling & decided to try this one. It was perfect. I made it to fill the Strawberry Dream Cake I off this site, and it went together perfectly. I had several compliments & many people going back for seconds...I will definately use this recipe again.

Strawberry Dream Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
OMG, I am sitting here eatting the top crusties with some coffee & I am in heaven!!! I am not planning on frosting the cake with the white chocolate since I am covering it with fondant, but I can just imagine how heavenly it would taste with the white chocolate icing. Also, I didn't have sweetened frozen strawberries, mine were unsweetened, soooo, I thawed them in the microwave a little, put 3 tablespoons of sugar over them, let them sit a few minutes & pureed them in the blender with 2.5 tablespoons of white wine. This is to die for! I can't believe how absolutely yummy it is. I can't wait to take it to my sisters birthday tomorrow.

Deep Dish Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
If I could give this recipe 100 stars I would! It is by far the BEST from scratch brownie recipe I have ever tried. I did read the reviews before making it & made the following changes as suggested by other reviewers: 1. reduced the eggs to 2 vs. 3; 2. ommited the baking powder; 3. Added 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. I also used 1/4 cup special dark unsweetened cocoa powder & 1/4 regular unsweetened cocoa powder. They were to die for & they didn't have that eggy taste to them at all. Loved them!!!

Real Italian Calzones

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2007
I can't give this review enough stars. I made small calzones, using a round sandwhich cutter. I made my own changes (ofcourse), I used 1 lb. hot turkey sausage ~ but still added about 1/4 cup pepperoni, added garlic, used cottage cheese instead of ricotta & increased the cheese by about 1/2 cup. They were so delicious & we ate all of them in one night.

Baked Penne with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2007
Yum!!! Made this for dinner tonight & everyone really enjoyed it. I accidentally forgot to simmer it for 10 mins. before mixing it with the pasta and baking it but it still turned out good. I added 2 garlic cloves to the sausage & also added 1/4 Parmasean to the top. Most definately a new family favorite.

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2007
Oh my gosh, totally digging this pizza!!! I didn't have any more chicken breast, but I did however have frozen boneless "chicken wings". I made my own dough (Pizza Dough I). After reading the reviews, I also made the following alterations: 1. I used about 3/4 cup of ranch, which I think I will make a full cup next time since some of it dried out; 2. I added 2 cloves of crushed garlic to the wings (which I chopped up with my food chopper by the way); & 3. I only added about 1 tablespoon of hot sauce to 3 tablespoons of butter ~ but I wish I had added more. All in all, it was wonderful & I will DEFINATELY be making it again...and again, and again...

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2006
This was by far the best sweet potato recipe I've ever had. We had tons of cans of sweet potato & wanted to make something with them, so we made this recipe. Of course I had to make alterations. I used 2 1/2 lbs. of sweet potato, 3/4 cup brown sugar, freshly ground cinamon & freshly ground nutmeg (I really think this made a big difference), and we topped it with large marshmallows instead of small ones. It was wonderful!!!

Cheesy Potato Salad

LOOOOOVE IT! I don't care for your regular run of the mill potato salad, so this was a REALLY nice change. I've made it several times.

Turkey Delight

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2006
It was pretty good. I did my own doctoring up, I sauteed some onions in about a tablespoon of EVOO & added the chopped turkey. I also added sage & thyme to the turkey. It turned out good.

White Chocolate Cheesecake with White Chocolate Brandy Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2006
WOW!!! I made this for a party we went to...I should have made two! It was marvelous. Of course everyone adds their own touch...I made mine with a chocolate graham cracker & shortbread cookie crust & also I added 3/4 tsp. brandy & 1/4 tsp. vanilla to it, since I didn't make the sauce. I didn't get much of the brandy flavor in the cheesecake, so I think next time I'll do a whole teaspoon. Everyone at the party told me I should have made more & some were trying to convince me to make them one just for themselves! It was yummy & went quick!

Loooooove this recipe. It is quick, fast and good. I added a little bit of salt to the water when I boiled the pasta and I also added red pepper flakes to it. It was excellent.

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2006
This was okay. We hadn't had lamb before & I think the chops we got were too fatty...so that may have added to our dislike. I probably would try this again only if the chops weren't so fatty. I think this recipe has potential, but w.o the fatty chops.
