Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
Yummy! Very chocolate-y... almost too much (and this is coming from a major choco-holic). I've made these several times and I cut the amount of chocolate chips in half, and double the walnuts which seems to balance the flavours better.

Brussels Sprouts in Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2003
Very nice! I really like brussells sprouts and enjoy them steamed without anything added, but my husband, on the other hand, is not really a big fan (usually he will only eat one or two sprouts), however, after I made this recipe, he had two large helpings. I would also suggest to those who mentioned the sauce needed to absorb into the sprouts - try using baby brussells sprouts. I find these are ususally more tender and not bitter.

Lentil and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
Wonderful soup! The flavour is excellent. I usually just use whatever type of sausage I have on hand. I've also made it without the sausage and it's still great.

Hearty Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
I've made this several times now and it is a favourite! I brown the onion and celery first, substitute the sour cream with yogurt and add 1/2 tsp each of dill, basil and pepper. Sometimes I will substitute the zucchini with a package of thawed spinach. I usually just mix everything (instead of layering) together.

Pot Roast in Beer

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
This was excellent! So simple and so tasty. I sprinkled a liberal amount of garlic powder on the meat before browning and substituted the celery (didn't have any on hand) with half a green pepper. The sauce was wonderful and there was lots of it - this goes great with egg noodles.

Conga Squares

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
Yummm!! These were great - the whole family loved them. I substituted the chocolate chips with butterscotch chips which resulted in a tasty, carmel-y flavour. I also halved the recipe and used an 8 x 8 pan. Next time I'll probably use the original recipe proportions since they got eaten up so quickly.
