I made these the other day for a dessert party, and I was totally the star. I was nervous serving something I had never tried before, but everyone was asking who made the bars, and how they could as well.
I doubled the recipe and made a few very simple changes.
1. I added a dash of cinnamon to the crumb mix.
2. I squished down some almond paste on the first layer before spreading jam. This was a GREAT idea.
3. I used blackberry jam, because that was all I had. I think this made it more unusual and exciting.
So again, super easy to make, and great. These were literally the talk of the party, among men and women. Dream come true.
