Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
Cut raisins to a scant 2 cups. Don't worry about kneading or cutting a slit - it's way to soft to do that. Turns out great anyway. Especially good toasted.

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
Perfect! I made 1.5 times the recipe for a dozen medium eggs. Final mixing is a ziplock bag and cut the corner off to fill eggs. My brother said they were better than his mother-in-law's, which is apparently a huge compliment.

Golden Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2010
Yum! I mixed in the bread machine on dough cycle. Very easy dough to handle. I also followed recommendations and let rise for two hours before baking. Make sure to tuck the point way under -- some of mine came out and the rolls looked like birds! Still tasted great, of course :)

Creamed Turkey with Bow Ties

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2010
Followed recipe except didn't have mushrooms. Too bland and too watery. I asked my husband what he would change and he said, "Don't make it again!" My recommendation: don't bother with this one.

Garlic Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2010
I didn't have whole garlic or green onions, so I mixed in minced garlic and regular chopped onion at the beginning. It worked ok, but they got a bit dark. I baked them 50 minutes for the right tenderness. I was scared when mixing the sauce in, because the vinegar smelled so strong. But the flavor was really good. There was some liquid in the bottom of the bowl, so I drained the potatoes so they wouldn't become soggy. Definitely a keeper.

Fruit and Nut Slaw

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
Really good! I used a 6 oz. yogurt and omitted the pineapple juice and it wasn't watery. I also used pineapple tidbits.

Hawaii Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
As others have said, definitely double the sauce. I also doubled the flour mixture, and still ran out. No need to increase the vegetable oil, though. Definitely a keeper.

Great flavor, and the color really livens up the Christmas cookie platter.

Rosemary Mashed Potatoes and Yams

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
Surprisingly good. I used canned yams because it's what I had. Drained off the syrup and rinsed. All four guests had seconds.

Nutty Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
I'm not usually an apple crisp fan, but this was awesome. I think the nuts were a big reason, plus it's not too sweet. Definitely a keeper.

Spicy Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
Too spicy even without the jalapeno pepper, which I didn't have. Yet pork chops themselves were bland. Definitely needs salt. Has potential, but can't recommend as is.

Baked Corn

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2008
To make it healthier, I cut the butter by half. I also use corn muffin mix, so it's only an 8.5 oz box. Turns out great. And, yes, don't drain the corn.
