Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
It turned out beautiful but was just ok in taste. It was an unusual cake and I may make it just for presentation at a holiday..but taste was just ok. Edit: It was better after a few days.

Local Kine Wontons

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2006
Used real crab and it was great. Got a ton of compliments. Next time I will use a little less cream cheese so i can better taste the crab. Left over cream cheese mix was good on bagels the next morning. Edit: I have now made this several times. I now double the crabmeat. Also..they are great after frozen. I make a batch..freeze them and just pull a few out and bake. Great served with sweet chili sauce!

Brie Cheese Appetizer

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2006
I used rasberry preserves..this was great..I made a ton of apps and this one was completely gone. Everyone raved about it. Served with fruit..cut up apples, strawberrys..etc. Edit: Next time I made it I did cut the brie in half to add the preserves..the brie melted all out of the pastry. I went back to adding preserved to top and bottom..this works best.

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
This is unbelieveable awesome. The taste is killer...however, I had a hard time getting the glaze to soak into the cake..I like my rum cakes "wet" into the top and the glaze only stuck to the outside. I both brushed the first few layers on then put it into the pan with the rest and let it soak. Next time I'll poke holes to drizzle in..but the taste was PERFECT! Great recipe!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2006
The first bite was OH MY GOD good..but after a few slices in it was gooy and undercooked. I had already cooked it for 57 minutes, but I just put them back in for another 10. The taste was INCREDIBLE! hopefully I can get them cooked though so we can enjoy it. Edit: Best after a day or 2.

These are fantastic. I made a double batch and the few that are left are still soft and yummy after 7 days! They were a fall hit with my friends and family. Thanks!

Amaretto Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2006
This was ok. It was moderately tasty. I thought it had way to much butter floating on the top of the sauce. I served it over angel hair pasta. I might try it again with less butter and sherry instead of amaretto.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2006
OH MY..This is so good and so easy. I don't know why I expected it to be hard..but this was an easy recipe. I used McIntosh and used my mandoline for quick slicing. I doubled the topping and left the white sugar and water as stated..it wasn't too sweet..It was awesome! Thank you.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2006
These were pretty good. Had a weird after taste..don't know if it's the salt, baking soda or walnuts. Anyhow..my husband and kids ate them up. It is a time consuming cookie as far as baking time vs batches goes.

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2006
I totally changed this so..don't know if I should rate it. First..I made this in a slowcooker on low for 8 hrs. I took the meat out and added 2tbs flour and 2 tbs butter and whipped gravy..then added 2 cps milk. The dish was very good and I served it with mashed potatoes. Yum

These were ok. I mean..they were fine..just that I expected "OH MY GOD" when I saw 5 stars. These were good...but definately NOT "OMG".

Pollo Bella

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2006
This was incredibly bland..my husband said it was "just not exciting". I don't know how you could make it better. It tasted like a bland alfredo and I don't like alfredo so maybe that's why I didn't like it. My husband said it didn't taste like alfredo..that it hardly tasted like anything at all. It's too bad because I love bleu cheese but this was a very big disappointment. Sorry.

Slow Cooker Cranberry Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
This is amazing! I told my brother if he didn't go buy a crockpot today and make it tommorrow..I will know he must be on drugs. LOL It was so tasty and the gravy is awesome! I used a sirloin roast and flipped it after 5 hrs to keep the top moist. You do not need extra liquid..it will produce PLENTY. I will definately make this again and again! Thank you so much! edit: I just ate the leftovers for lunch and I think they may have been even better than yesterday IF that is possible. I really loved this recipe!

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2006
It had a very mild flavor..not strong at all. I took other advice and added cream at the end and maybe it diluted the flavor. I might try it again without the cream. My husband liked it. I chopped the chicken into 7/8 pieces per breast before cooking and they were very tender when it was done. I served it with mashed potatoes which my husband loved with the sauce.

I thought it ws pretty good. I served it to the inlaws who ate every bite..so it must have been good to them. I thought it could use maybe a little bacon or some green veggie..overall a winner and I will make it again.
