Fresh Pear Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2003
this recipe is delicious! not at all what i expected, though, it tasted sort of like a pumpkin apple bread. but very moist. my one complaint is that four cups of pears is A LOT to chop up! i chopped them very finely, next time i may make bigger chunks.

Eggless Milkless Butterless Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2003
absolutely delicious! i combined it w/another recipe i found (changed white sugar to brown, added 3 TBSP shortening, doubled the cinnamon, added 1/2 TSP ground cloves, only used 1 C water and used 2 1/4 C cake flour) and cooked it into 11 cupcakes, which cooked for 25 minutes. but in the end, i have scrumptious little spice muffins!

Carob Cake And Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2003
i can't consume caffeine but had a few bad experiences w/carob. until i tried this cake, that is! i substituted the water/nuts with 1/3C almond butter and 2/3C shredded coconut. that made a really lovely and moist cake with a delicious flavor. will try w/o the almond butter next time to lower fat. maybe raisins.

Lemon Drops

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2003
i've read that confectioner's sugar isn't technically vegan because of the processing. but you can make your own using pure cane sugar and a little corn starch in a blender or cuisinart.

Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2003
i added 2/3 C of lemon juice and a bit of zest, and cooked them at 350 degrees for 11-12 minutes. the extra liquid made the dough runny, so i sprinkled sugar on top rather than rolling them in it. they had a very pleasant flavor and were very light, but lacked the lemon *punch* i had hoped for. will tinker with them.

had trouble getting out the lumps in the polenta...added a little bit of soy butter for a creamier mushroom sauce. delicious!

Honey Lemon Tea

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2003
being in the theatre, this is a great recipe to drink before shows to soothe and protect your throat. it's also delicious, although i added a bit more lemon than prescribed.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2003
i used these to make "sagehens" (mascot) for my boyfriend when he got into pomona. i was impressed by how well the dough held it's shape and how strong the cookies were. they were, of course, also delicious!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2002
i only had 1 cup of oats so i scaled down the recipe and made half with craisins and half with semi-sweet chocolate chips. both were delicious!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2002
from all reports, these cookies are delicious. however, i'm horribly lactose intolerant and can't eat them! but everyone who has tasted them loves them. i might try to vegan-ize this at some point, although it won't be the same.
