Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
So delicious! I used 2 handfuls of fresh baby spinach instead of basil and it turned out great

Banana Muffins I

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
Waaay too much baking powder. The muffins looked great but tasted awful. I should have trusted my gut and not added all that baking powder.

Best Ever Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
This is fantastic! I used small wagon wheels instead of the penne. I initially tried to cut down on the mayo, but it was too dry. I suggest following the recipe exactly. I made this for my son's birthday party and it got rave reviews.

Venison Meat Loaf

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
Amazing, simply amazing! Ok, even after reading all of the rave reviews, I didn't have high hopes for this recipe. Everytime I make something with venison, you can usually tell. I followed the recipe exactly and it was fabulous. DH couldn't even tell that it was venison! Thanks for a great recipe!

White Chili with Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2007
This is delicious! I substituted a small can of diced green chilies for the jalapeno, but otherwise followed the recipe.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2007
Wonderful! I've made this a few times, but just tonight doubled the chicken because it makes a lot of sauce. Should have doubled the mushrooms too (we love them!). Great recipe!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2007
My new favorite chicken recipe! This turns out wonderfully and is a real crowd pleaser. I didn't realize this recipe was for 2 chickens and used all the mixture on 1 chicken and it still turned out great (not overly spicy like I was afraid of).

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2007
Fabulous recipe--everyone loves when I make this. I layer the topping and batter: pour half of the batter in the pan, top with half of the topping mixture, pour remaining batter, then sprinkle the remaining topping mixture on top. So yummy!

Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2007
I've made these several times--my husband begs for them!! They are his absolute favorite. Be sure to use margarine and not butter. Butter makes them spread and they also come out way too saltly.

Southwestern Rice

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
This dish is good, but I like a little more flavor. Next time I will use more of the spices. Perhaps double? I think this would also be very tasty with some fresh, chopped cilantro (I didn't have any on hand). Will definitely make again.

Unique flavor, very tasty! I ran out of time, but next time I will definitely boil down the sauce.

Corn Chowder I

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2006
This soup is wonderful! I only used a few tablespoons of the bacon grease, and added a can of regular corn.

Vermont Spice Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
I cut this recipe out of a magazine ages ago, and finally decided to serve it on Thanksgiving. I made the cakes ahead of time and froze them until Thanksgiving. They were just a tad dry, so watch your baking time! The frosting is amazing!! My husband would eat just a bowl of this frosting if I let him. Everyone at our Thanksgiving dinner RAVED about this cake, it really is delicious. Next time I would put the cake together a day ahead of when I was going to serve it, so the icing gets into the cake more. I also covered the top of the cake with pecan pieces.

Minute Tomato Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
What a great combination! I used organic tomato soup from Trader Joe's--just to cut down on the sugar that's in condensed tomato soups. Delicious and very filling!

Monterey Chicken with Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2005
The cilantro adds great flavor! I used a little extra cheese and salsa after reading the other posts. Also added 10 minutes to the potatoes cooking time. I might try to use less butter next time and more lime juice. Excellent recipe!!

Peach Pie the Old Fashioned Two Crust Way

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2005
This pie is the best! So simple to make. Everyone devoured it at work! I didn't use the egg and it turned out just fine. Also, I added a little bit of brown sugar, butter, and pecans to the top of the pie in the last 20 min or so. I probably baked a good 10 min more than suggested, but I guess that depends on your oven.

Banana Cream Pie III

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2005
I made this with a grahm cracker crust (at the request of my husband) and it was ok. He and our other guests loved it, but I think I will try the traditional recipe next (egg yolks and sweetened cond. milk). There is definitely too much filling for one pie, so I made two!
