About this Cook
I am a stay-at-home mother of two with a wonderful husband. Absolutely love being at home with my kids!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook for my family, but love to bake even more.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every so often my mom would make wheat bread on a Saturday morning. But she would use half of the dough and fry some homemade "scones" (what we called them, but I suppose it is just fried bread) that we topped with butter and honey or jam. So good. When I'm not dealing with toddlers and babies I hope to do the same!
My cooking triumphs
Mostly with desserts. I always get rave reviews with "Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting" from this site. I probably would have no triumphs without everyone's shared recipes on this site. What did our mother's ever do without it?!!
My cooking tragedies
Several years ago we were having my husband's co-worker over for dinner. I was pretty inexperienced at that time but I remembered liking pork chops in the slow cooker with BBQ sauce. So I threw them in with the BBQ sauce and proceeded to cook them all day. Wow - at 4:30 I could barely cut them; they were so tough. I had to throw them out. And, unfortunately, my alternative dinner was far from impressive. I think we had to BBQ hot dogs real quick. How embarrassing!

Pork, Apple, and Ginger Stir-Fry with Hoisin Sauce
I made this as written and it was really yummy. Will definitely make again. Next time I will add some more veggies though. I was given advice on the Recipe Exchange to use a cheese grater to "chop" the ginger after you peel it and it worked great. Thank you for the recipe!

Honey Coconut Salmon
This is my favorite salmon recipe. I never bake it anymore. It's so much easier to just throw everything into a foil pouch and throw on the BBQ or George Foreman. So good!

Orange Balls II
I was going to submit this recipe but realized it was already here. My grandma makes these every year and now I do too. Something a little different for your Christmas plate and so delicious!
