Fried Cabbage II

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2003
Let's just say that my fiance has never before brought up dinner two hours later and thanked me again. What a hit! This is top notch comfort food. I used butter and omitted the bacon all together. I just can't bring myself to cook with bacon fat - sorry! We used a little extra vinegar as well. This is quick and easy.

White Chocolate Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2003
These cookies were very good, but next time will use more orange zest, because the orange flavor wasn't pronounced enough. I used 1.5 cups white chips and no nuts. I found them a little greasy and may cut some of the butter next time too. I will also try these with semisweet chocolate chips.

Artichoke Bruschetta

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2003
These are delicious! This recipe will be a regular on my hors d'ouevres menu. I only used two tablespoons of mayo and added a good splash of olive oil and ground pepper. It was still very creamy, so I think you could get by with just 1 tablespoon of mayo. Also, make sure you use the MARINATED artichoke hearts or these will be bland. These are quick and easy, and a great change from the usual hors d'ouerves.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
I needed to update this poor review I gave two years ago, because it wasn't clear to me that I needed to use a hand mixer or mixer to get the right consistency. I used a similar recipe for my cookies this year using a hand mixer and it was great. My family loved them. Thanks!

Deep Dark Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
Awesome, quick and easy recipe - I used a half cup more chocolate chips in place of the walnuts. These cookies are so soft and cocoa-y and not too sweet. They remind of cookies you'd buy at Mrs. Fields or The Cookie Factory. I love the way they stay thick as they bake too.

Rae's Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2002
This recipe is excellent! I sauteed half a medium onion with the garlic and omitted the cheese. I also used spicy pinto beans, extra hot sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes. (Some like it hot!) The beer flavor is not overpowering either. What an awesome, healthy recipe. My boyfriend loved it. And it's even better the second day after all the flavors blend. Thanks Rae!
