Cuban Pork Roast I

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2005
I'm not sure what went wrong. It could have been me. I followed the recipe exactly and I didn't like the taste of pork. It was too "citrusy" for me.

Sausage Gravy I

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2004
This is great! I didn't have bacon grease (I was surprised because I always cook bacon) so I put in a stick of maragine. I know it looks excessive but this recipe is supposed to be rich and tasty. When I added 1/4 cup of flour, I knew it wasn't much. So I added another 1/4 cup of flour and the gravy thickens quite nicely. I can't imagine why would someone try to eat this gravy wihtout any salt/pepper. I added a nice amount of pepper and salt to it and it came out almost perfect! Make sure you use country-style sausage for this recipe. Mild or Hot, however you fancy it. The gravy is supposed to be tasty and rich so don't try to skimp on any ingredients.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2004
This was good but it didn't really turn out creamy as I thought it would. It wasn't difficult to make this recipe.

Cosmopolitan

Reviewed: May 24, 2003
Whoa! I have to admit, this is my first Cosmopolitan drink. It is pretty refreshing and tasteful. I know this is a girly drink but I love this drink! Call me a sissy if you want to! :-)

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: May 6, 2003
Wow! This recipe is quite tasty and powerful! I did this with few modifications: I decided to fry the chicken covered with italian bread crumbs, in pan with butter. When they were lightly browned, I set them aside in the 9 x 11 baking pan. I double the ingredients except wine and italian dry seasoning to make more sauce. I also added mushrooms at the beginning when I was making the sauce. It turned out great and the chicken was awesome. However, I must give this four star because for two reasons: The sauce was too rich for my taste and it wasn't quite restaurant quality. I know I am too picky but I would make this recipe again!

Spicy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2003
I must admit, it was pretty good. I included all of the ingredients except orange zest. I decided to put in 1/2 instead of 1/4 cup of orange marmalade because it didn't look enough. It was, indeed, very orangey but I loved it. I would make this dish again and it's an excellent recipe for people who don't want to spend much time in the kitchen.

Flan I

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2003
This is exactly what I was looking for, an authentic mexican dessert. My friend, who is from Costa Rica, once made this dish and it is strikingly similar to this recipe! I would make this again and again!

Chili I

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2003
I followed all of the directions exactly and it didn't turn out the way I thought it would be. The flavor is too bizarre, hot and tangy at the same time. My family said it was too spicy and they didn't quite like the flavor such as beer (Wicked Ale) and coffee in it. I'm sure this recipe is popular with other people but this isn't what I was looking for. I would definitely NOT make this again. Onto my search for the perfect chili! 9/15/2004 - I'm surprised people still rate this so high.

Creamy Penne Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2003
Hmmmm....the dish was just okay. Cream cheese with pasta didn't taste quite right to me but it was quite edible. I added portabella mushrooms to the sauce and did vermallli pasta instead penna pasta because that's all I had. I would not make this again unless I wanted to make something easy which doesn't require any time. Overall, this recipe is average, nothing exciting about it.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2003
It was a fabulous dish! I did everything exactly the recipe said and it turned out wonderfully. I loved the wine cream sauce but I thought it was bit too rich for me. Next time, I should try to put in half and half instead of heavy whipping cream. Oh, I didn't use the toothpick. I used two cooking ropes, one tied up on each edge of rolled chicken with ham/swiss.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2003
Outstanding! At first, I read all of the reviews here, I decided to add chicken broth (half cup) with cornstarch (on your own measure) and it turned out great!!! At first, 4 tablespoon of olive oil and butter didn't seem enough, so I added bit more. I cooked chicken first then took them out when they turned brown. I added Dry Sherry (House table, not the cooking one) and Marsala wine (Cooking wine) and sautee the mushrooms. I added a lot for this (two boxes of sliced portabella and one box of whole mushrooms!) When sauteed, I put the chicken back in the pan. After looking at it, it didn't seem much sherry and marsala left in it, so I decided to add more. I must have put in an extra cup of Marsala wine and half cup of Dry Sherry. Let it simmer for awhile before putting in cornstarch. Make sure you put cornstarch last in because it will turn thick immediately. It tasted wonderfully! It may seem like a lot of alcohol to you but everyone's taste is different. Amazing dish! (I probably put in too much alcohol due to a large cooking pan?)
