Pumpernickel Rye Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2006
I really love pumpernickel bread and this one is delightful. I followed the recipe but made it in the kitchen aid and baked it in the oven. It turned out moist and delicious! I am so happy to have found this recipe thank you. I will make it many more times....

Spinach Appetizers

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2007
This has been a family favorite for many years at my house. I add some hot pepper (pizza style) and my daughter adds a bit of french dressing. At Christmas time we call them Holly Balls, on St. Patrick's Day they are Lephrican Balls...I will have to try them with a dipping sause that sounds good.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2012
I tried this for my daughter's birthday cake last year and she loved it. I will have to make it every year for her. This is really a wonderful cake. The only thing I did differently is to omit the raisins which she doesn't like, but I do, so if I make it for me I will keep them in.

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
This was very good! We enjoyed it for several meals. I made my own white sauce and used noodles that you are not suppose to pre boil. I am not completely sure I liked these new noodles but the dish was great and I will make it again.

Emily's Famous Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2006
We loved this! My hubby loves SJ's and he raved. I did reduce the b. sugar to 2 teaspoons and added 1/4 c ketchup and I used Hungarian Paprika. I added saute'd mushrooms and used green pepper too. I also used a 12oz can of t. paste and a 10 oz can of puree because we like our SJ's sloppier than most because we eat them opened faced on toasted w/w buns. I jazed it up with a squirt of worchestershire and a splash of cooking sherry too. It was wonderfull and I will save this and use it again, thanks Emily

Blackened Chicken Pizza with Yellow Tomato Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2006
This was very different and really tasty although there was way too much salt in it. I would reduce the salt from 3 tsp to 1. I cooked the chicken and then added mushrooms and onions to the hot oil as well as adding olives to the sliced tomatoes. I did not have pear tomatoes so I used some yellow ones I grew in my garden. I have made this with red ones too and it is still delish.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2014
I just tried this and it is very good. I followed a couple of other suggestions and used plain yogurt because I was out of buttermilk and I too reduced the sugar to 1 cup. It turned out delicious and my hubby said it was the best ever. I made 3 little loaves and reduced the cooking time to 35 min. They were perfect.

Garden Fresh Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2013
That should read ready in about 5 hours. You can crock it if you need to leave it unwatched but I usually just cook it one the stove. I used Riunite Lambrusco for my wine. I also put a pinch of soda in to cut the acidity. This was the best my husband said and there were no left overs to freeze.

Turkey Veggie Meatloaf Cups

Reviewed: May 14, 2013
We just loved this. I added mushrooms to the shredded veggies and cooked it on the bbq in larger sized muffin tins. It made 12 exactly. I checked it with a meat thermometer to make sure they were done. I will make this again.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
This was a great starting place for the best zucchini bread I have ever tasted. I tweeked it a little. I substituted 1 cup w/w flour for one of the flours, added a touch of wheat germ, I cut the oil in half and added 1/2 c applesauce. I also used brown sugar and raw sugar and reduced the sugar by 1/4 cup. Next time I will try even less sugar... ( I am diabetic so trying to keep it a bit lower). By accident I forgot the nuts so I added them to the top at the last min. I think I like them better there.

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: May 13, 2005
I first tried this last year when I needed something to take to a picnic birthday party. It went over so well there was very little to take home...saddly. So this year I thought ahead and made 2...one to keep and one to give away. It is really that good.

Everyone that tasted it loved it but it was very HOT. I would reduce some of the hot peppers and use Italian sausage.

Orange Pumpkin Loaf

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
This is good. I read the reviews before I tried it and decided to go with 2 clementines and use only the skin from one. Ok this is where things went a little off because I set aside the process oranges and then I forgot to add them in to the first batch.... which was cooking by then soooo I went ahead and made another batch with the orange juice/orange peal. I made them in little bread pans... I have one that holds 4 mini loaves. The first batch without the orange juice made 3 denser loaves.... not bad really but not as tender and moist as the second batch which made 4. This is keeper!
