Banana Split Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2002
I've made this 4 times in the last 2 weeks. My family loves it and everyone wants to me to make it now. I did use a different graham cracker crust because I couldn't get recipes crust out of my pan. The graham cracker crust on this site that you had to bake was good. A few tips would be to use 20oz of pineapple. Put the pineapple in a strainer and really get the juices out so your pie doesn't get soggy. I also rinsed and dried my cherries so the red wouldn't run in the cool whip. 8oz of cool whip was plenty. My Mom made the comment that strawberries were missing so I now drizzle strawberry syrup over the filling before the banana and following toppings! Delicious! One more thing, I just used a 9 inch pie plate and you need a strong mixer, I burnt one up making the cream cheese filling. Now I add a tablespoon of milk and I let the cream cheese soften.

My husband loves butterscotch but this didn't set up and it was so sweet. This was made using the milk that was previous left out of the recipe.

Raspberry Truffle Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2002
This was very good, a keeper. Much easier then most fudges and didn't require stirring and perfect temps. I think a cherry flavored liquer would be good also.......fool proof!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
very yummy! The cream cheese frosting with only 3 cups confectioners sugar was the best cream cheese frosting out there. You could actually taste the cream cheese instead of just sugar! The carrot cake was good also but I added extra spices....1/4 tsp cloves and 1/2 teaspon nutmeg I also used the applesauce oil exchange like others posted.

Chewy Crispy Coconut Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
YUMMY!!!! I made these just as the recipe states and they were wonderful. My family ate them quicker then I could make them so I ended up having to make another batch. A good coconut flavor...perfect. They even replaced my hubbys favorite cookie.

Pumpkin Toffee Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
I didn't really notice the toffee like I thought I would. I added extra spices because I like a spicy pumpkin pie. It was tasty but I'm not sure it was any different then a regular pumpkin pie. I did notice the toffee gave it a little bit of a nutty flavor though.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
This was a good chili but honestly I didn't notice a huge difference from other recipes I've tried. I thought with all the extra ingredients it would taste different but it didn't. I was disappointed that you couldn't really taste the sausage in it. I followed the directions to a tee! I will probably keep it around, because like I said, it's good. Just nothing different, if that makes sense. I could spend less for the same thing :)

Fluffy Banana Cake

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
It was a good cake but the batter was thick. Right then I thought maybe I should add some more buttermilk to make it like cake batter. After eating it I should have went with my instinct because it was a little dry. Still yummy though!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
AWESOME! I've been making this for a couple years now. Easy to make but time consuming with all that dicing especially when making it on a large scale. I don't find the need for the sugar or preserves but sometimes I taste before I add the sugar and only add if it needs it. Also any combo of fruits seems to be possible. I generally use apples, grapes, strawberries and kiwi. The cinnamon chips are such a yummy dipping option. A low cal treat that hits the spot like a fruit pie would! I'm on weight watchers and I can get 12 chips (2 one pt tortillas) and 1/2 cup of the salsa for 3 points!

Barbequed Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
OK, I didn't care for the sauce, as is. Maybe it was just me? I thought the vinegar flavor was to strong so I ended up adding some molasses, celery salt, black pepper, salt, and a little more ketchup to come to a flavor I liked. I would like to remind everyone that when you taste the sauce don't forget it will be getting basted over the other spices rubbed on the meat so don't be tempted to add a lot of heat to the sauce, unless you like it this way :) With my changes to the sauce and the recipes cooking times and rub my husband thought theses were the best ribs he had ever tasted! They went FAST!! It was my first time making ribs and I was darn proud of them.

Oatmeal Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
ICK! I thought these cookies lacked a lot of flavor. I ended up adding some cinnamon to the batch halfway through. They did get slightly better when they cooled. I still gave them 3 stars because some of my family liked them. I probably won't make again without adding some spices to it. I used a whole bag of toffee bits but still the toffee flavor was weak to me. Maybe some coconut in the cookies would be yummy.

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

YUMMY!!!! So rich and decadent that one batch can feed a lot. I used chopped peanuts. I also followed the tips on cooking to 300 and adding a little vanilla. Might try the brown sugar idea next time just to see how it tastes. Good recipe!

Brisket with BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
I was a bad girl, I didn't follow the directions. I can tell though that if I would have this would have been great. I poured the liquid smoke over the meat in a baking dish and let it marinate and then cooked it in the same dish. Then I added the BBQ sauce to meat. Then the liquid smoke that was poured over the meat mixed with the sauce and made for a salty concoction. The meat by itself and the BBQ sauce by itself was great so next time I will follow directions to a T.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
YUMMY!! This recipe can stand on it's own and it's wonderful. I like to take recipes and make them my own by changing things up and the changes were fantastic also. A great base cookie that can be built upon. I add 1/4 tsp of pumpkin pie spice. I also swapped out 1/2 cup of the white sugar for brown sugar and added 1/4 tsp maple extract to the batter. The dough is kind of sticky but not hard to work with. I just used my finger to push it off the spoon. With the glaze I left out the butter and added maple extract and cinnamon. I drizzled just a very little bit of it over the cookies because my kids found it to sweet if I used a lot. My 10 year old made me promise not to lose this recipe :)
