I am a drummer of nearly 40 years,I also play keyboards and bass guitar.I write songs, along with several other things, such as bible studies, articles, poems and interesting thoughts that God gives me.Yes,I am a strong and devout Christian,Holy Ghost filled speaking in tongues according to Acts 2:38.I am married for 22 years and have two daugthers. One is in her 3rd year of college and the other a senior in high school. My daughters and I sing and play music in our church services.I enjoy cooking and I watch food network a lot and have learned a lot from them.We love to go to Disney World whenever we can.I preach at a local nursing home every other month, and yes,God has called me to a preaching ministry as he prepares me.I've thought about trying to open a small restaurant/diner but I know it would require a lot of my time and I am too involved in my church to be able to run a diner successfully, but it is a dream though.I'd like to have a catering service so I can work on my schedule.
My favorite things to cook
I make a mean brunswick stew, from scratch!I cook a lot of pasta dishes, mostly my own creations, but not always.yeah I do use boxed pastas too.I love to cook with potatoes and I cook them in many ways.I make my own chicken and dumplings and my own chicken noodle soup.I was watching Barefoor Contessa the other day and she made a vegetable/lentil soup.I did my own variation on it because I did not have everything she used, but I did have a bag of dried lentils.I added a few other ingredients than she did and everyone loved it.had the leftovers for supper the next day.One of my favorite things to do,is take a recipe and tweak it to my liking. Most of the time it works, but there are those times when the family says daddy this one isn't so good. Then it's back to the drawing board,or should I say back to the internet to the recipe sites again!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Compared to my first two, this one will be short. We really do not have any cooking traditions of any sort.Typical stuff like Thanksgiving turkey and the fixins, collards and black eye peas on new years day(does that give away where I'm from?)Other than those,no other ones.
My cooking triumphs
Definitely my brunswick stew from scratch.I also make these tortilla pinwheels that I found online but I tweaked the recipe and everyone loves them.I took a batch to a family fun night at church and several commented on them and loved them.I also make a kraut salad that is a recipe from my grandmother, and again my church family loved it.I guess when your own parents enjoy something that you have cooked, that in itself,is a triumph and victory!
My cooking tragedies
I've had several, but always here at home with my own family only. Can't recall any specifics.
