Grandma's Iron Skillet Apple Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2012
OMG!! It is an easy recipe and oh, so good! I had never made a pie such as this before and it came out perfect! I love cooking in my cast iron, so this was the recipe for me. I feel that it is foolproof! I highly recomend it to anyone...

Easy Cola Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
Amazingly, I have used this same recipe exactly as Mom did back in the 1950s. I liked it then. I use it often as is in a Dutch oven with legs over the campfire coals while camping and in a stove top Dutch Oven when I am at home. It works for me, and I hear no complaints, just accolades! And yes, it works fantastically in a slow cooker on low all day!

Hoe Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2013
This is a great tasting recipe! I have a 9 inch pan and it rises during baking 3/4's to the pan top so it is not a thin bread as depicted in the picture though it is still good! I would love to know if everyone else has made their's thinner. It is a great snack!

Goldilocks Sweet Potato Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2014
I use simple recipes as I find where they are complicated they are not that much better. I just made this pie and I will be making this one again and again! It is so flavorful! The only changes I made were using less sugar, (3/4 C of sugar) and 5 oz of Evaporated Milk (rather than 1/2 C milk). This is all I had in the house. It truly came out like a Sweet Potato Pie as opposed to the taste of a Pumpkin Pie. I noticed that amazingly enough, the recipe is identical to Sweet Potato Pie 1, my next recipe choice. My Fiance' loved the pie as well, so no need to fancy it up!

Lowcountry Shrimp and Grits

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2015
Excellent, quick and simple recipe just as it is. I did add about 1/8 tsp of red pepper and 1/8 tsp of paprika and about 3/4 cup of gratd sharp cheddar cheese. I followed the rest of the recipe. we did only used a precooked 12 oz. package of shrimp. So it was added with the onions for a couple of minutes to heat it. The results were extremely good. I embellished the shrimp and grits for serving with thawed spinach for garnish...I had nothing else! The whole meal was fantastic and we ate the entire menu of food, so I guess that makes a keeper!
