About this Cook
I have a Polish/Slovak background and I love food. Pittsburgh fan all the way!
My favorite things to cook
I love easy-to-cook foods. Homemade "Black and Gold" baked beans, bruschetta, crockpot keilbasa, and pumpkin bread have become my staples over the past couple years. I'm always exploring new ways to cook traditional foods, especially new recipes for CHICKEN!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always have our Christmas-Eve appetizer spread and our New Years Eve dinner consisting of the keilbasa/hot dogs/saurkraut/pork, and mashed potato mix. My family also makes their own saurkraut.
My cooking triumphs
After eating in a restaurant in Connecticut that served warm bruschetta, I discovered that I absolutely prefer warm oven-roasted bruschetta over the cold-serve... and my family agrees! My in-laws give me their garden-fresh peppers every time we visit in the hopes I would make them bruschetta. An accidental "overdose" of canned pumpkin in a pumpkin bread recipe has led to extremely moist and tasty bread! (My trick: when it calls for 1/2 can, use a whole can!!)
My cooking tragedies
Cheesecake... our oven is not too great so my 3 cheesecake attempts have been unsuccessful. I have over-seasoned my chili and so I'm learning that a little goes a long way with chili!

Spinach Balls
Oh these bring back memories... my grandma always made these, so they remind me of her. I love spinach balls :) They're so addicting! I think she used mozzarella cheese, can't remember.

Candy Corn Cupcakes
I have done a similar cupcake design for Christmas with alternating red and green batter and it turned out fine. The other reviewer is right, this is about presentation. So, if the coloration doesn't work out then I would alter the drop count. Also, personally, I would eliminate the green since there is no brown color in the candy candy... just use drops of orange and drops of yellow for each separate bowl of batter (if you don't have orange, red and yellow are fine...) and use as many drops as needed for the perfect color for you. I really like making cupcakes with these different coloring patterns because they can really be festive :) I will definitely be making a candy corn cupcake for Thanksgiving!!!
